I've always been pretty automatic from the line but I guess for some it's hard. I think Boykins has the best approach to free throw shooting. The guy is so good he can shoot free throws with his eyes closed. Peja and Nash are also great.
Again its all mental. I use to be real inconsistent at the line. Some games I would go 8/9 and the next 1/6. This year I started the season shooting 61% from the line and I ended the season at 78%.

I knew it was all mental and once I got a rythmn my confidence improved and I started knocking them down consistently.
