Because the only thing being discussed is Eagle fans and Eagle haters, I want to change the subject for my fellow eagle fans: Here are my off season thoughts: Philly will be 15 million under the cap and has 5 picks in the first 3 rounds (kudos to my main man Joe Banner!) 1. Don't resign Simon. He'll probably demand all-world money and he isn't consistent on the run or the pass. 2. Either Mitchell or Pinkston has to go. Playoffs will probably indicate who. My gut tells me it will Mitchell but I'm hoping for Pinkston though he has the speed and hands, just not the heart. 3. Resign Trotter. He'll be cheap and wants to stay in Philly 4. Obviously a lot will depend how 'Buck responds to the ACL tear but I hope they draft another running back for depth 5. Depth for O-line needs to be addressed as well as D-line if Simon walks. Shawn Andrews WILL be a stud (on a side note). 6. I'm not sold on J.R. Reed as a backup safety although he does well on kickoffs. I would like to see Philly grab a free agent to back up Dawk and Lewis. 7. Isn't it great to see Philly in this position? To only have to worry about depth at some positions and have the abotily to not have to draft on need is a great position to be in. We should be thankful for Banner and Lurie!
I would trade up and draft a young WR, what do you think about Mike Williams??? Will he fall far enough for us to snatch him up??
Well, I don't think that there's a snowball's chance that he falls that low but I would love it if we got him. Only thing is, he's slow. Philly already has one slow receiver (Freddie Mitchell). That would mean Philly would be keeping Pinkston for the speed which I'm not in favor of but not hell-bent against either. It doesn't bother me about the two plays that he bailed out on, I just hate how inconsistent he is. He has great hands and is fast as hell so it's not like he doesn't have the tools (see 2002 stats), he just seems to lack heart.
TO on one side Mike Williams on the other! DAMN! thats all i have to say. Im a Giants Fan and I am scared of TO alone.
They don't need anymore depth in the O-line. The backup o-line guys play well as long as they have some type of veteran presence. The past 2 games they looked horrible, but that's only because it was all of the scrubs, without a veteran presence. I totally agree with you about resigning Trotter, he's a necessity and I'm hoping he doesn't ask for a ridiculous amount. Releasing Corey wouldn't be a bad idea either. They should drop Mahe and bring up McCoo. They won't go for any first round WR's, I think they're still waiting for McMullen or Lewis to step it up a bit. I'm assuming they'll go for a d-line, but we'll see.

All I ask for is Philly's 1st this yr & next as well the pick exchanged for Feeley back plus either a Simon or a 4th rounder.

I don't see Mahe making it next year. He's a good story but .....I agree with your Lewis or McMullen but these guys aren't rookies, how come either one can't crack the line-up in front of Pinkston? That's frusterating. I wish we could have seen more McCoo in the last 2 games......
Well yes besides Hicks there really isn't anyone. But I don't think anything before the 3rd round is worth a backup O-line. I'd personally like a powerful DT, to replace the lard ass Corey and to help out Trotter a little bit. We have the pass rush covered with Kearse, so let's get some run stuffers in the middle.
You know what i predict, another NFC championship no matter who's on the team and a super-bowl where TO struts his stuff...
If Shawn Andrews can stay healthy, he is gonna own and I'm happy with how the o-line backups played this year. I agree we need a decent WR. As already stated, Pinkston lacks heart and Mitchell is an idiot. I'd also like to see another versitile HB since Buckhalter is an injury concern every year.

Its good that you are realistic with Buck. Most "fans" would just say he will come back great. He may do so, but its still a question mark. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bednarik1963)</div><div class='quotemain'>Isn't it great to see Philly in this position? Many teams that think they have few needs often don't worry about position and just draft the best players available...whether they need them or not. The other option is to trade this year's draft pick for something comparable in next year's draft, plus a little bonus. For example, trade a #3 this year for some team's #3 and #5 next year...or something similar.
So much for Simon, they just threw the franchise tag on him. I have to say I'm EXTREMELY surprised. This is WAY to early to do this. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see him as a top 5 DT. Above average yes, but replaceable. I'm not sure were this puts them on a once $18 Million under the cap but they need to address Westbrook and Trotter before Simon.
One of them WILL go. Lewis made too many plays late in the season to allow both of them to stay on. I really doubt both of them stay, one goes. Mitchell makes the plays (usually) but is a mouth, Pinkston has the talent but doesn't make the plays usually). Then again, I can't believe they franchised Simon.
I hope they keep Pinkston, he came through during the Super Bowl despite McNabb's performance. With TO on the field, Pinkston can become a real threat. Think of this though, trading away most of this years picks for next year, and signing Alexander and/or Muhammad. As well as signing Keith Adams, Burgess, and Trotter, our team would be insane. Try and stop that offense, TO, McNabb, Alexander, Westbrook, Muhammad, L.J. Smith, Buckhalter, and throw in some improving Greg Lewis. Now I know it wouldn't happen, but TO and McNabb were with Muhammad and Alexander alot today, or so I've heard. I wish Runyan's contract didn't explode this year, otherwise there could be a slight chance of that happening. We'll see, I think they might just for alot of depth in the draft and hey, if alot of teams get scared of Mike Williams taking a year off maybe the Eagles can pick him up. Another slight chance, but it's worth imagining.
