<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A trade involving Raptors' franchise Vince Carter and teammate Jalen Rose is lighting up the airwaves in New Orleans, according to WGNO, the cities' local sports radio. According to the radio report, Toronto has offered Carter and Rose in exchange for P.J. Brown and Canadian Jamal Magloire. The deal reportedly will include an undisclosed amount of cash. It is no secret in Toronto that Vince Carter is unhappy with his exclusion from the Raptors' off-season revamping of its front office and coaching staff. Other players would certainly have to be involved since both Rose and Carter have max salary contracts and Brown and Magloire earn considerably less. Also Magloire is entering the first year of a contract extension that flags him as a Base Year Compensation player, which would further hamper any trade involving him.</div> <div align="center">Link</div>
Man that wouldnt be a bad trade but it doesnt make any since IMO,the Hornets trade two big men for two guards. It would be intresting to see Baorn Davis Jalen Rose and Vince Carter on the same team though. I dont really like this trade for the Hornets if they trade their froncourt starters than they would have no bigmen that could contend with the others in the West.Big men dominate the West I dont like the idea of trading the Hornets trading their frontcourt away for guards.
If Vince Carter is to be traded, Baron Davis would have to be included in the deal. He has a max contract that could match the salaries that Carter and Rose carry. Maybe the deal could be: Carter/Rose/Marshall/Alvin Williams for Brown/Magloire/Davis/Mashburn.
^^ agreed...this deal makes no sense at all. Even if there were some throw ins by both teams...raps loose all their fire power for a couple of big men. course that deal gives us MAD depth up front, but leaves us ultra thin in the back. whos gonna shoot for us? if the deal was PJ and baron for vince and donyell it would make more sense. or maybe PJ, jamaal and baron for vince, jalen and donyell. once again though...thats leaving us pretty thin for firepower. we need another guard. dont like the sounds of this deal.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting anignatoyn:</div><div class="quote_post">That's BS coming from New Orleans.</div> Yea I agree, they're trying to stir up something. This makes no sense for the Raps. They get Magloire who'll replace Araujo (2004 Pick), and Brown and His fat contract that might replace Bosh (2003 Pick). If this deal gets done then Babcock should be fired. We could of gotten Iggy instead of Araujo instead of having 2 Centers. But then again this trade is nothing but BS from NO.
b/s because hoopshype today said that the toronto sun reported that vince had a conversation with bobcock and vince is enthusastic about starting the new season AS A RAPTOR
Stupid deal for New Orleans. They are in the West, it would make no sense to trade the two most important big men on their roster for an injury prone swingman and a guy like Rose with a reputation for being selfish. The Hornets actually have a pretty decent roster now, this would just give them a glut of swingmen and no inside players, which is a recipe for disaster in the West.
Stupid deal for both teams, in my opinion. New Orleans is giving up two big men in the West, and the Raptors are giving up both of their leading scorers, which would be a big mistake since scoring is needed (last in the league last year, 84.5ppg). It would be a downgrade for both teams, also we're stacked at PF with Donyell and Bosh, so PJ Brown doesn't fit in this lineup. The Raptors would be receiving a good center in return, but its a major loss of scoring - just not worth it.
Who are these Unnamed sources? Did any of you guys read this article? ... http://www.insidehoops.com/unnamed-sources.shtml
If this deal goes down, I will totally disown the Raptors. They will be lottery bound for the next 5 years at least.
b/s trade it wudnt even work cuz jalen rose and vc have big contracts and magloire and brown dont have that big of contracts
How can anyone even think it would go? It doesn't even make sense. It wouldn't be as bad for NOH as it would for us. <u>New Orleans</u> PG - Baron SG - Vince SF - Jalen or Mash if back PF - David West C - Tractor Traylor ....except they have no depth at PF and C <u>Toronto</u> PG - Alston SG - Alvin I guess if he's alive SF - Morris Peterson PF - Chris Bosh/ PJ Brown/ Donyell/ Moiso C -Jamaal Magloire ....this team would challenge for the worst record in the league, and our backcourt is pretty garbage, no scoring, but we have depth at PF
If Toronto could ontrade PJ, or deal Marshall for some back court help, they'd be an East playoff team IMO. A frontcourt of Magloire and Bosh would tear it up in the East.
^Good find! Here's the same article from the Sun http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/TorontoSun/S.../30/562804.html
