http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketba...3p-186554c.html This is not the NY Post, but it is still from NY. So the question of the day is this... Would you take Thomas, Harrington, Mohammed for Damp? My question is this... Why would we make this trade when we already are loaded at the center and PF positions because that is all they are giving us. Can we get a SF somewhere?
I think NY should just give it up. I think the only teams Mully will deal with is Memphis and Indiana unless a can't miss deal comes up somewhere.
Adding Kurt Thomas will not make that offer any better, if not it might make it worse because of the logjam it creates. The only thing I can see that would make the Nazr/Othella combo a better deal for us is if they gave some draft picks (not quite sure how their 1st round situation is since they got their youth stripped right out of them in the Pheonix deal). I just don't like any deal involving NY. I don't think they know what the concept of a fair, even deal is. Quantity does not equal quality. And we should hold out on deals, unless we are certain that we get some kind of benefit from it.
We gotta try something with the Suns for Joe Johnson or Shawn Marion. They just signed Q Richardson, so they have two SG's now. For their lineup to work, Marion would have to be PF and Amare would have to be C to allow Joe Johnson to play SF leaving room for Q to play SG. They'd really benefit from getting Dampier to allow everyone to play in their natural spots. Trading Marion wouldn't be a popular move in Suns' fans eyes, even Joe Johnson wouldn't... drawback: having to compete against quality Suns team with no big weakness positive: we get something for Damp...and our squad has a lot fewer weaknesses as well. Possibly turns JRich into useful trade bait.
I do not want Kurt Thomas and his 36 million dollar contract, Chad Ford, the idiot, said that the warriors "desperately need a veteran 4" what is this guy smoking we have Cliff and Dale who both come off the books next year, but we need to resign Murph for the kind of money we would be paying Kurt Thomas, dumb. I don't care at this point if Damp walks, I just don't want him to go to the hawks and then get traded to the Grizz on Dec. 15, that would be a worst case scenario. On a side note, SanQuinn are you the rapper?

I would love having Marion but like you said, it would make the Suns into a team with no visible weaknesses. These are the teams we will be competing for a playoff spot with, and I don't only mean this year.

Does Thomas really think we will accept this offer with Thomas included? He must think he is dealing with St. Jean.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">I wonder if its just the NY press.</div>ESPN reported this as well.
I guess Isiah doesn't know Mullin then. hehe. It's like when Shareef Abdur Rahim was like "when did Golden State play any defense?" last year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">Whatever.</div> Was this directed towards me? If so... Was that comment necesary? I never meant to go off-topic, but I was just addressing something that was directed to me, like I am right now. I am here to talk basketball just like you guys, so please quit hatin'!
I'm just glad to know that Mullin can stand his ground. He won't get intimidated by big name GM's and he is looking for a deal that benifits the Warriors. Hopefully, I am not getting ahead of myself by saying this. The GS-NY deal is dead IMO. Isiah is just going to keep trying, and he is going to keep getting denied. The knicks will not give up anything that we need. I think the knicks will eventually rip somebody off and leave the Warriors alone (Bulls?).
Only player i'm interested in is Frank Williams. But he's not even all that because he's kinda slow and he's got no range. But he's a good defender, passer and decent playmaker. 7'2" Cezary Trybanski is kind of a mystery.
Why would we need Frank Williams? I like his game as well but we don't need another log jam at the PG position.
Knicks always seems to think Thomas as an All-Star or something. Layden did that (and got laughed at) and Thomas seems to follow same track. Options for Dampier is rapidly decreasing as well, since both Clippers and Suns are now unavailable for Dampier. But, Mullin actually accepts that offer and make us with five PFs (Murphy, Robinson, Biedrins, Thomas and Harrington), he will be a bigger fool than Thomas. I really hope this deal does not go through...
