<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A trade involving Raptors' franchise Vince Carter and teammate Jalen Rose is lighting up the airwaves in New Orleans, according to WGNO, the cities' local sports radio. According to the radio report, Toronto has offered Carter and Rose in exchange for P.J. Brown and Canadian Jamal Magloire. The deal reportedly will include an undisclosed amount of cash. It is no secret in Toronto that Vince Carter is unhappy with his exclusion from the Raptors' off-season revamping of its front office and coaching staff. Other players would certainly have to be involved since both Rose and Carter have max salary contracts and Brown and Magloire earn considerably less. Also Magloire is entering the first year of a contract extension that flags him as a Base Year Compensation player, which would further hamper any trade involving him.</div> Taken from realgm.com
I dont see Hornets doing this, giving up a potential premiere center and there other big man. I can see them adding Mashburn instead of Magloire and I would see the Raptors politely decline.
^You think the Raptors are gonna take a more injury prone player (Mashburn) than Carter is over Magloire? It ain't gonna happen. I would be surprised if this trade goes through, New Orleans is giving up their whole front line for two more guards. They won't be able to survive in the West if it happens.
I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry at the fact that people actually took that one seriously. To elaborate further on the fiscal point in the article: ALOT more would have to be added to make that trade idea work. From a telent standpoint, this is Highway robbery. Even with Carter's injury history, him and Rose are worth a hell of a lot more than Magloire and PJ Brown. You're talking about moving 2 guys from TO that seperately could (notice I said could) be the #1 guys on thier teams. I'll gladly debate anyone who thinks the guys TO would be getting back from NO are of that caliber. This whole idea doesn't make any sense to me, but would be glad to listen to anyone who has a better angle I'm not seeing.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Triple Dubble:</div><div class="quote_post">The Hornets will not be making any trades this offseason that do not include Jamal Mashburn.</div> Are you the Hornets GM? Because no one wants mashburn except the retirement home. This trade doesn't make sense for either team. Baron Davis and Vince Carter would be an awesome backcourt, but they have no frontcourt. The Raps would have a good frontcourt, but a crappy team, they have to get better players if they are going to give up VC. At first I thought Carter was going to be traded in the beginning of the offseason, but now I think he's going to stay with the Raps. Too bad it would have been cool to see carter in NY, which i know will never happen.. I think Carter should be traded for Peja, and just add contracts to make that trade work. Because the Kings need someone to play in the playoffs and Peja would be a good return for the Raps. It's now or never for the Kings.
This rumor doesn't seem to have much substance to me. there is way too much Bulls*** in the air these days.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Are you the Hornets GM? Because no one wants mashburn except the retirement home.</div> No comprendas ingl?s, amigo? I meant exactly what I said. Did I say the Raptors would take Mashburn from the Hornets? It is known that the Hornets are shopping Jamal Mashburn, so they will not make any major changes to their roster without moving Mashburn. That's the biggest reason as to why this deal will not be happening.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Eclipse:</div><div class="quote_post">Vince isn't going anywhere http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/TorontoSun/S.../29/561176.html</div> well said.
yea noone wants 1 proven star ,, and a guy that is a proven scorer ....i know i sure wouldnt want them......... incase yall dont know its called sarcasm.
I think the Raptors would be getting ripped in this deal. I know VC hasn't been great lately but still you should be able to get more value than just them for him and Jalen Rose.
Honestly Media, what's the point of creating a proposed trade with tons of details if they're not going to happen? It's like doing tons of crossovers against a defender and then getting your shot blocked.
raps get robbed like a bank in this... magloire wud b welcome home but we dont need another pf and we could get waaaaayyyyy more then those 2 with carter and rose.
In my mind this trade is bogus. The Raptors could put VC and Rose on the market and get more. The New Orleans Hornets would have Baron Davis playing Center and both teams would suck.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kingofcrossover:</div><div class="quote_post">im with tbonee9. VC and Rose are a pair noone wants</div> yup, nobody wants them, I understand Rose, but many people want Carter, unless their wouldn't be countless rumours. This trade doesn't work in terms of talent, money, team needs, anything, it makes no sense in any matter or form, doesn't even give either team cap room
