The Los Angeles Clippers today acquired veteran shooting guard Kerry Kittles from the New Jersey Nets in exchange for a future second round draft pick. Kittles, who led New Jersey to consecutive NBA Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003, holds career averages of 14.3 points and 2.6 assists per game during his eight year career.

?We are very pleased to announce the addition of Kerry Kittles, who is a talented player with a great work ethic,? said Clippers Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor. ?Kerry plays hard on both ends of the floor and has a great feel for the game. He is also a veteran player who brings a tremendous amount of playoff experience to our roster.?

Drafted by New Jersey with eighth overall selection in the 1996 NBA Draft, Kittles played in all 82 regular season games for the third time in his career last season and averaged 13.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Kittles was also named the Atlantic Division Winner for the 2003-04 NBA Sportsmanship Award, a distinction also bestowed on Clippers forward Elton Brand, who was the recipient of the Pacific Division Award.

?Our objective all along has been to add talented players and we are very pleased with the acquisition of Kerry Kittles, who is the perfect fit for our team,? said Clippers Head Coach Mike Dunleavy. ?Kerry is a terrific defender, ball-handler and perimeter shooter who will enhance our team chemistry.?

Kittles, who shares the Nets franchise record with 54 playoff games played, has career playoff averages of 12.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Guess they are stocking up on draft picks for the draft. Who's next Jason Kidd?

I just read that article at NBA.com too, and i was like what the hell? i guess the nets missed being the worst team in the NBA. jason kidd is definetly next, i just don't know which team would take him, but it seems all it takes is maybe a draft pick or two....

Oh, don't you know Kidd is on the phone telling his agent to "Get Me Outta Here!"

I love the idea of Kidd for Walker. New Jersey seems to be in complete rebuild
mode. I know they were hoping to move to New York. Do you think the team
itself will be on the selling block?

What i hate about this is that we didnt even get chris wilcox which would have been great to have him as a backup or ever a start project. Oh well back to the being the laughing stock of the NBA. But I gotta say with all the draft picks and all the cap space that will be left open for us to sign free agents will be great. Well i guess i'll have to watch them build a really great young team... If they keep getting all these draft pick we might have our own little draft. But i will be the first to say if they build a really great team. I will be the first to take back all the things that i said. But i still love these Nets

wow what is NJ doing?? they've got a boatload of draft picks but they are gonna suck for quite a few years...they let KMart go...Kittles is gone...Kidd and Jefferson cant possibly like this situation so they'll likely leave too...crazy...it would suck to be a Nets fan right now...its almost like they miss being medicore....

    Why?

The Clipps should have thrown in a bag of peanuts
    with the 2ND round pick.
(thats the least they could have done)

Maybe a jar of Vasoline would have been more helpful,
considering the summer that the Nets have had.

    (Nets)

i suggest that the Nets manegment should have a drug test, theyre all on dope!!!! [IMG]

i mean the best thing they could get for Martin and kittels is 4 guys avreging 2.6 points a game in the future!wow thats smart!!To think they sucked so long to get this players and now they will also lose richardson,it looks like another 10 years of being sucky for the Nets

Wave it in the air like you just don't care! [IMG]

All I care about is Rj staying, if he goes the Nets have no direction nor anyone to build around. Not for sure why he stays if Kidd goes but hopefully Rod can convince that we will be willing to do anything to keep him happy over his probable 7 year deal if he decides to stay with us. But Rebuilding has begun.

The Nets shoppped Kittles everywhere possible, he just wasnt great trade bait even with his contract ending. Teams rather sign a cheap wing player then trade for an aging one for 9 mill even if its only for a season. But I was at least expecting a 1st rounder.

hey we should look to being a really sucky team this season. Get a high draft picks and see what we can do from there. I have this thing in my gut telling me that Rod Thorn has something under his sleeve that other people in the NBA doesn't know. He must have like some prospects that he is looking for in the draft to stock up so many picks. And I think next years off season will be a very productive one by keeping Jefferson and signing some veterans cause they do have some nice names that will be free next season. So I will hold on my thoughts till the end of next season... Looks like they are going for that number one draft pick but who could that person be. It was obvious that Lebron was last year and it was a toss up with Okefor and Howard depending what route the teams wanted to go..... But if you are a true fan of the nets you should be used to this....lets just see what happens

Haha remember when Stephon Marbury was running the team with Keith Van Horn? This is basically the same situation with Kidd and Jefferson. Major SUCKING now!!!
Don't feel bad Nets fans, at least you will now get a few Brandon Armstrong's. The Nets management suck at drafting first-rounders anyways, so count the three picks from Denver waste. [IMG]

yeah but they didnt have rod thorn at that time to make the draft picks calles and trades. I think ratner is telling him to unload and draft the possible talent that he can get so when they move they wont be rookies or projects anymore thwy will have that experience. Playing along side veteran players that they do decide to get will be one of the major impacts to the team. So let hope they can do it. Looks like they might have a decent young team when they move to New York

New Jersey's fanbase will get smaller and smaller.Seems like Kidd is next and they are trying to build a team for the future that will start dominating right after moving the franchise out of New Jersey.(well, maybe few years before if Krstic is what people hope)

Man what is up with Nets?Do they know they are allowed to trade for players?

I dont know what direction the Nets are going in,it looks like they are completely re building, and not doing a good job at it.Kerry Kittiles is an ok player but I dont understand why they traded him for a draft pick, maybe they are tyring to clear cap room.
