Story: Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has signed free agent Anthony Peeler to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. ?Anthony Peeler is an established veteran and a very solid player,? said Grunfeld. ?He is a proven perimeter shooter, a hard-nosed defender, and brings significant playoff experience to our young roster.? The 6-4, 208 pound guard, has averaged 10.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists over his 12 year NBA career, shooting 38% from three point range and has appeared in 50 playoff games. Last season, Peeler led the NBA in three point shooting with a .482 average. Peeler was originally drafted out of the University of Missouri by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 15th overall pick of the 1992 NBA Draft. After four seasons with the Lakers, where he averaged 11.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists, Peeler was traded to the Vancouver Grizzlies on July 16, 1996. After a season and a half with Vancouver where he averaged 12.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists, Peeler was traded to Minnesota on February 18, 1996, and finished the 1998 season averaging 12.3 point, 3.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds with the Timberwolves. In four seasons with Minnesota, Peeler appeared in 321 games, averaging 9.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Peeler had a stellar college career at the University of Missouri. He left college ranked first all-time in assists and steals, second in three-pointers and third in scoring. In his senior season, Peeler was named the Big Eight Conference's Player of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year, and finished the season as the conference's scoring leader at 23.4 points per game. In addition, he was named Second-Team All-American and a finalist for the Wooden and Naismith Awards.
I Really Doubted we would be able to sign Peeler back here :thumbsdow .Too bad.I would have loved to see him return and help us in our quest to get the NBA Crown. He was one of the reasons why the Kings were sucessful, but i figured he would ask too high of a price for the Maloofs to pay him.Arggghhh Who do we have in mind to replace him??
This is a big loss to the Sacramento bench. Peeler was a clutch shooter who was a big bonus in the absence of Bobby Jackson. I hope that the Kings will be able to find someone like Peeler to help fill the void left. I hope that Peeler does well for the Wizards.
This is a big loss, along with Rodney Bufford leaving as well. Let's see what the management will do.
Well the Kings now really need help with the bench because all they have now are Bobby Jackson and maybe Ostertag might do well.
fully expected once they signed Martin and Minard. I think his elbow to Garnett is why he is no longer here. (but thats just my personal opinion)

The only reason that Anthony Peeler is no longer here is that he did not want to be here any longer. He had a player option for the upcomming season which he chose not to take.
I dont think the Kings lost him they let him go,obviously they really didnt want to resign him or they would have. Peeler is an ok role player and a ok three point shooter and defensive player but the Kings really dont need him.

I think that if they find a SF that has good defense they are going to be just fine and possibly better than last year.
I thought because the Bobcast took Peeler, and left him as a FA, we couldn't resign him? And why was he left unprotected anyways? Otherwise, this is still a huge loss for the kings. This offseason looks terrible for the Kings, we need some moves and good changes.
This is a Make or Break year for the Kings. The Maloofs and Petrie need to make moves to determine how our season will go.Peeler going away was expected(sorry, but this was expected anyways)no more Divac, now we have to make the best with what we got,and i have hope about the Kings.Kings fans need to take the bad with the good, and i'm confident that one way or another we will suceeed.is everyone with me on this??
Not a big lose for the kings imo. They have more than enough depth to cope for this lose. Besides punching garnett he really didnt make any news in his time with the kings he will not be a huge lose or a huge blow to the team in any way imho. He averaged under 10 points a game an in the style offense the kings run that is not alot. He didnt do much for the team played some good defense at times though, but didnt get enough minutes to make an impact. I really havent thought much of him as a player the last couple of years since he left the wolves he dropped his game badely after his departure. He became less of a scorer and less of a shooter imo. I do wish him luck in washington though hopefully he performs well and regains his game there since he will get alot of minutes probable.
I liked him because of his defense, which is something that the Kings lack. Hopefully Petrie is gonna do his thing and making pick up another SG to come off the bench
hes one of my favorite players, I wish he woulda signed with a contender...I thought he fit the Kings well as a sharpshooter and defender off the bench...Plus I feel he is really underrated as a passer...does anyone know the details of his contract, like years and salary?
this is bad for us. we dont got no experience backup sg. anthony peeler was a great part of our team he waz a very good offensive player. hopefulli we can get som1 better
he was good from 3pt range... fairly solid defensivly, but I dont think I would loose a lot of sleep over the fact that he went to washington. I think that we could get pretty much the same from Martin with a cheaper price tag. Martin is probably not going to be as good defensivly... but he isnt starting either. besides... there are still a few more days untill the season starts... Petrie is not done with this lineup yet, lets see what shakes loose...
