http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/s...nnnnnn|Antwan|Y According to Charley Walters of the St Paul newspaper in Minnesota, he has heard that the T-wolves will resign Hassell for the next six seasons. ? The way the six-year NBA offer sheet that Timberwolves restricted free-agent guard Trenton Hassell signed with the Portland Trail Blazers is structured probably will allow the Wolves to match it and thus retain the defensive star. The contract is for a straight $4.35 million each of the six years. Because it doesn't escalate, the Wolves could justify paying Hassell, 25, the total $27 million if they decide he should be part of their long-term future. Look for the Wolves to take nearly all of the league-allotted 15 days from Monday to ponder alternatives and whether they can justify re-signing Hassell, then to match Portland's offer. The signing, though, could have repercussions for other players on the Wolves' roster. Just an FYI for all
Hmmm it will be a smart move if the Wolves match, but everyone thought the Clippers were going to match Q Rich but at the end they didnt.

In part a reason they didnt match Q's offer was because they were able to pull off the trade to aquire kittles so there was no need to match Q's offer the wolves dont have any trade lined up that can go down at this point so matching hassels offer is the most obvious option. I hope they do match to see the look on the faces of some of the people who have been calling hassel greedy wonder what they would call him if the wolves match. Hopefully they do he is a good defender, but I do think they are over paying for him, but what can you do really. You have no second option and are already over the cap you have no second option, but to match his offer since you cant sign a big name free agent because they are mostly restricted and your over the cap the tam would most likely be able to match your offer to the freeagent or force a sign and trade. Then a trade is unlikely unless you can trade wally and kandi together or something like that because there the only players on the trading block.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor says if team vice president Kevin McHale and coach Flip Saunders conclude that Trenton Hassell will receive considerable playing time next season that he will match Portland's offer of six years for $27 million. "I've told Kevin to check the contract," Taylor said. "We have Troy Hudson and Wally Szczerbiak coming back healthy after being injured last season, and that may limit Hassell's playing time. "If we do sign Hassell it will mean that our free-agent signings are done." Hassell was quoted in the Portland Oregonian as saying "I want to be here [in Portland]. If I didn't want to be here, I wouldn't have signed the contract."</div> Link It depends on how much playing time Trenton Hassell will get next season, to decide if they will match or not. I doubt he will get enough playing time next season with Wally healthy.
