Minnesota trades: SG Wally Szczerbiak (10.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.2 apg in 22.2 minutes)
Minnesota receives: C Jason Collins (5.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.0 apg in 28.5 minutes)
SG Lucious Harris (6.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 21.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +2.6 ppg, +4.0 rpg, and +2.8 apg.

New Jersey trades: C Jason Collins (5.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.0 apg in 28.5 minutes)
SG Lucious Harris (6.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 21.8 minutes)
New Jersey receives: SG Wally Szczerbiak (10.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.2 apg in 28 games)
Change in team outlook: -2.6 ppg, -4.0 rpg, and -2.8 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Minnesota and New Jersey being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Minnesota and New Jersey had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    Both of these work.

Eh, I think I'd like the Aaron Williams+Lucious Harris trade more than I'd like the trade for Collins. Harris did miss some of last season with injuries and when he plays and gets minutes he can be an effective scorer, but if we give Wally away and we lose Hassell and get no SF in return, we have nobody at SF. Unless we put Spree there but then we would be a very small lineup. Spree is getting older and would have more trouble guarding swingmen because he would have problems keeping up. There is a possibility of starting Ebi but he's too young and unexperienced for the part.

Overall, I don't like the trade. We would win in the stat categories but I don't think it would fit into our lineup.

I think Wally is perfect as instant offense off the bench...I wouldnt bother trading him for Williams/Harris or Collins/Harris...Olowkandi>Collins+Williams...Williams wont cut it as a PF in the West like he could in the East...Collins is just good for 4 rpg and 4 fouls/game...

The Nets are not trading for Wally S. huge contract. Bruce Ratner would fire every body in the Nets front office from Rod thorn to Ed Stefanski.

2nd, Jason Collins isnt bringing anything to the table that the Wolves need in a bigman. He doesnt throw his body around down low that much, he isnt tuff on the boards, he wont be able to take the pressure of KG from a standpoint of having to guard the best post players every night because JC isnt that great of a post defender. He isnt going to provide the wolves with any legitimate amount of inside points, non at all actually. He isnt a great help weakside defender. All the things the Wolves lack in a post player at the Center last season, JC will not help to improve.

Jason Collins best attribute is that he is an excellent passer out the high post. That isnt the attribute you want your bigman to succeed at playing in the west. Want want him to be to be a little griddy, giving up his body on the boards. And even if he isnt a great low post scorer, you would like your bigman to get some dirty work points by working the offensive boards. JC is going to do very little of this, which means he isnt going to upgrade the wolves.

This trade doesnt benefit anyone involved imo.

Both of those trades are pretty bad imo. Colling would just be another bum big man on the team and we got enough of those. He can not over power anyone with his size and has a very limited post up game.

Harris although a good shooter has troubles driving at times and would not fit in with the teams offense imo. He is not that good a player very over rated by a lot of people for the way he fit in for kittles when he went down a couple years back. The williams although a decent power forward a center out west no way imo. He doesnt have the size to be. He would just be another under sized guy we use there temporarily since we dont have a true big man.

I would not do this trade because wally alone makes up for more than half the scoring those two players put up together in either trade. Also none of the players coming our way have the potential to be all stars while wally does although it would be a long shot in the stacked east with all those good guards.
