It's been pretty quiet in Lakerland after they signed Vlade, so this thread is about the Lakers' history...Along with the Celtics, the Lakers have the most storied history in the NBA, with a handful of great names wearing the purple and gold...

So how would you rank the players who have worn purple and gold based on their contributions to the franchise (as players). This is excluding what they have done for other teams..

    My All-time Laker ranking

    1. Magic Johnson
    2. Jerry West (only behind magic because magic won more titles)
    3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
    4. Shaquille O'neal
    5. Elgin Baylor
    6. Wilt Chamberlain
    7. Kobe Bryant
    8. James Worthy
    9. Gail Goodrich
    10. Byron Scott

EDIT: I changed #10 to byron scott because I forgot about him...I had Jamal Wilkes before

I was debating whether to put him or Byron Scott at #10, but i decided to put scott because he led many of those showtime teams in scoring

How about George Mikan lead the minneapolis lakers to the first nba title and the second back toback title as well. One of the nba's 50 greatest players of all time and a big peace of what helped make the lakers what they are today.

Then there is also AC Green one of the nba all time iron men. Was a little past his time when he played for the lakers, but still great. Then also there are many more there have been to many great lakers to put them into a list it would take a pretty long list to name them all.

Well, I was actually ranking L.A. Lakers, because I mentioned purple and gold reference, and I don't believe they wore purple and gold back in Minneapolis...

There is no way A.C. Green belongs on that list...Which guy would I take off for A.C. Green??

Im going to base it on their entire careers not just in LA

    1. Shaq
    2. Wilt Chamberlain
    3. Kareem Abdul Jabbar
    4. Magic Johnson
    5. Jerry West
    6. Elgin Baylor
    7. Karl Malone(lol not his LAL career his entire career)
    8. Kobe Bryant
    9. George Mikan
    10. James Worthy

I guesss it was kind of dumb putting players who had better careers outside of LAL but I felt like doing it like that. Putting all the great players whoever played in a Laker uniform.
To the guy who said Kobe in front of Mikan is retarded: Kobe is slightly a better player than Mikan. MIkan played in a non competitive league. Kobe has a much tougher time and continues to shine more.
