Matt Leinart just became one of my favorite players....Heres an athlete that isnt shouting "Show me the money"....I think when we look back at this decision in 25 years, it will be the key to him becoming one of the best QBs of all time....

yea hes smart just like Beef i really respect him now. I mean he would probably have gone top 3 and he decided to go back to college not turn his back on his teammates and have fun in college for another year. Also i respect him cause he didnt listen to all the people saying GO GO GO. good decision

I respect Leinart for his decision, but the bottom line is he would've been a top 5 pick if not number 1. USC has a very capable backup, plus they just recruited the top rated QB in Juco and he's supposed to be amazing. Any other case I would've said stay, but Leinart doesn't need to stay for USC to be great, and he will ultimately continue his career in the NFL. I respect his decision, but I don't think it's a smart one. If he gets a big injury next year, he'll lose about 10 million dollars off the bat at least.

He wont lose that much to an injury because he will buy an insureance policy just like Culpepper did and Manning did....He will make a deal with an insureance company that if he gets injured and can't play in the NFL, they owe him $5mil or so, and if he doesnt, then he owes them like $100, 000, its been done before...then one thing that cant protect against is non-football stuff, like if he got shot or killed in a car accident....

Well I'd rather take the $20 million dollar signing bonus like Eli got than play another year at USC, a team that is going to be great with or without him next year. I just don't think it's worth it

Hes not choosing an extra year of college over $20million dollar, hes choosing an extra year of college over $20million this year....he can do both, go have fun in his senior season and still get the cash....even if he fell out of favor, hes still a high pick and his bonus will set him up for life....I think hes smart, he realizes that no ammount of money can buy back the experience he loses if leaves early....

Ya wanna know why he isn't "showing me the money?" Because he DOESN'T HAVE TO. You've got these Leinerts and Mannings whose families don't need the money, You get these other athletes whom have their ENTIRE family looking for support from them - completely different set of circumstances.

I applaud the fella for choosing to stay in school but let's not make a matyr of him. If he had a family living in "the hood" he would have jumped ship just like the rest of 'em.

If someone, or thier family was living in poverty and thye had chance to make millions, i would totally agree with that decision

Im not talking about kids who are the victim of their parents failings....They may squaller in poverty for a very short period of their lifes, but every one of them is but a few years away from controlling their own fate....Its important to mention that "Poverty" in America means you only have 2 cars and 1 TV....the "Poverty" line for a family of 4 is somewhere around $30k a year, which in a real impoverished country makes you a rich man....I have spent the majority of my life in "Poverty", yet I have never missed a meal, always had indoor plumming, and never went a day with air conditioning....thats the majority of American Poverty....Im not saying that there arent people out there in the US that live in 3rd world defined poverty, but any of them 15 years of age or older, do so by choice, whether they will admit that or not....on a side note, as a Marine, thats what you fight for when you go off to war, the privledge of every man to achieve a comfortable life for himself and his family, and I give thanks to every man and women who put their lives on the line to insure that....
