IMO it's all about finding a happy medium. Things like the Uniforms and logo I think need to stay the same - they are instantly recognisable, and while you still have the Leprachaun and the Celtic Green, people are automatically going to recognise the franchise and it's culture. Things like cheerleading, selling more food at stadiums, intoruducing marketing gimmicks etc etc are a part and parcel of today's game. It's a business, and you have to do what you have to do to keep up with your competition. If you ask me, as long as the history of the franchise is kept in the spotlight, the jerseys still stay in the rafters and the Celtic Green is seen on the jersey, tradition is being upheld.

Not to get emotional and all, but you're one heck of a writer hagrid [IMG] Really , there should be some Celtic Cheerleaders though... It isn't what you call a Celtic Tradition(to say the least [IMG]) but every single team in the NBA has cheerleaders... Look, we don't live in the time of Auerbach and Russell anymore... I personally think they wouldn't mind having cheerleaders .... The uni's should stay the same though... The only thing I(!) remember that changed was the word 'Celtics' from going just straight above the number to making a half-circle around the number of the players...

I don't think the uniforms should ever change.

    As for cheerleaders...
I don't even care. Sure, they are nice to look at, but what other purpose do they serve? Don't tell me that they "pump up" the home crowd, because they have nothing to do with that. The play on the court is what fans get hyped up for. I think Celtics games are enjoyable enough the way they are right now. Their new version of the "Lucky" mascot is great, and always puts on a good show. They also have a good share of time-out and halftime entertainment to keep the casual fans interested. But, too much of those things can give the impression that they are putting on a spectacle.

I go to about 10-15 games a year, and I have yet to find myself wishing that the Celtics had cheerleaders at any of the games. I think the fact that they do not have cheerleaders adds some sort of integrity to the team, it gives me an "all about business" vibe, and I think it's something the Celt's are proud of. However, I DO understand that this is just my opinion...the opinion of a diehard Celtic fan. I'm sure casual fans would love to have cheerleaders. For example, if you took me to a hockey game, you would need swarms of cheerleaders to keep me from losing interest.

Cheerleaders and uniforms mean little to me. All I ask is that the Celtics select players who can be coached to play as a team, give 100% effort, and serve the team with character. This is the way Red ran the team, and this is the tradition that needs to be preserved.
