OK, here we are. Houston need a PG, yeah? They already have a ballhandling SG, and therefore appear to not be in the market for Damon Jones (or vice-versa, there are reports he was not interested in signing with the Rockets). So, would it not make sense that Houston go for a more defensive-minded, slashing PG in the mould of Antonio Daniels? The Sonics are heavily rumoured to be landing the signature of Damon Jones, a guard who would fill the play-making and shooting hole left by Brent Barry. This would leave Luke Ridnour, Daniels and Jones at that position (not to mention Flip who can man the spot from time to time). As such, it would see logical that Seattle send Daniels to Houston, perhaps for a first-rounder, would it not?
I doubt they'd part with a first rounder, but sending someone like Nachbar to Seattle would make sense, or just sending their MLE.
We'll gladly send Erick Piatkowski if you want, but I don't think Seattle would want to find another three-point shooter to replace Barry. I can see us maybe sending the Sonics our $7 million trade exception and a second-rounder, but I doubt that we'd send a first round pick, because we have already gone two years without first-round picks and I doubt that Carroll Dawson would want that three years in a row. Nachbar could be sent there though, but why would Seattle need another European SF when they already have Radmanovic and Lewis?
Alright, I'm not sure what the Rockets current salary cap status is but I was wondering about Jamal Crawford. He's a restricted free agent but couldn't the Rockets offer him somethin or even try to work out a deal with the Bulls to send the MLE and people like Piatkowski or Nachbar(or both) and possibly a second rounder? I'm just surprised that nobody has offered Crawford anything yet.
Crawford is not what Houston needs. They need a point guard who knows his role and won't take many shots, and plays solid defense. In Crawford, you get someone with a big ego, and a defender who gambles too much on defense, therefore unable to fare well in a team defense system. I wouldn't take a go at him, and make him another overpaid player that the Rockets already have in Mo Taylor.
I would've thought the Rockets would look at Jeff McInnis (after the Snow deal). Don't know what they could give the Cavs, though.
I think if Seattle gets Jones, then its almost sure that Houston gets Daniels...they've been engaged in talks regarding Daniels ever since early July...for some reason, we have a strong infatuation with Daniels being our starting PG...but we'd likely send over of MLE, TE or a player like Piatkowski or Weatherspoon...I dont see us dealing Nachbar as we're still unsure of his talents and he'll likely see more minutes this season...
i dont value piatkowski, i mean something he shoots some nice threes but overall, we can trade him. Nachbar and Weatherspoon seem to be ok, wouldnt trade him. Hope we could get daniels
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting pidandsid:</div><div class="quote_post">Why doesn't houston go after one of Portland's PG's? Thay have enough to last them a lifetime</div> Cuz neither Van Exel nor Stoudamire would be the ideal fit as our starting PG...Daniels and Jones are more legit fits than they are for our system... I just want a starting PG...is that really too much to ask???
I think the sonics and rockets already have a deal in place, but the sonics will only pull the trigger if the can sign damon jones. If there is a deal in place i just hope a pick is involved in it.
I don't see why the Sonics would accept nachbar for daniels. Simply put, the sonics just need better players not somebody who may or may not play. Maybe they think they can get a F/C like Swift for Houston's MLE. Dunno if that's realistic though
AllNet said that we would be offering our trade exception for Daniels if Jones is to sign with Seattle...
Well Jones signs with the Heat baby! So I guess this thread has no use haha... I guess he wanted to play with the Big Aristotle and try to win a championship or something hehe...
