BANKS Staff Reporter Advertisement Eddy Curry is not making things easy for Bulls operations chief John Paxson. Paxson was hoping to sign Curry to a long-term extension, with the window for such negotiations opening today and closing on Oct. 31. Tyson Chandler also is eligible for an extension, but the Bulls had targeted Curry as the franchise cornerstone. All Curry had to do to earn a possible six-year, $90 million extension was stay in peak condition during the offseason. But he's not even close. ''I'm sure that we will talk with Curry's and Chandler's agents, but I'm not sure where the talks will go,'' Paxson said. ''Tyson has been a model of consistency all summer. He has actually exceeded what we had hoped for. </div> Full Story
I do hope they resign chandler he has a brighter future with the team then curry imo. He is 7 feet tall and can play any position from the 3 to the 5 he just needs to put on a little muscle and he will be very good imo also he needs to improve his jump shot a little to play the three more often and give matchup problems for other teams. Curry I cant believe he has actually gained weight this summer damn he is quickly becoming shaq and not in a good way that he can dominate people either if he keeps this up his career may be over sooner than expected like those of other players who let there bodies get out of shape like shawn kemp. Hopefully though the contract and money being offered can motivate him to get better and more in shape. Chandler is very different from curry while people are motivating curry to lose weight they want tyson to gain some muscle and put on weight. Since he has come in the league he hasent really bulked up at all and stayed his same body build that he was in high school for him to further develope his game he needs to hit the gym.
$90 million seems an extreme amount for someone who hasn't done too much in his career yet. Man, people complained about KMart getting that huge contract, well, at least he's done something to get a contract of that size. Curry really doesn't deserve such a contract. He's shown signs of being good, but, he really hasn't broke out and put up the consistent numbers to deserve that much money. But, that kid better get his butt in shape. The Bulls don't need an out of shape center for the upcoming season.
Out of the 2 (Chandler and Curry), Chandler is more deserving of an extension. Tyson has been working hard this offseason on his game, and he has stayed in shape. But what's wierd, is that I heard that Curry lost a lot of weight, but still isn't in the best condition he can be in. IF he has a year were he scores 16+ and 7+, i expect for him to get an extension, but not 90 Mil over 6 years.
I don't think Curry is worth 90 Million or anywhere near it. I find him to be a very good ball player. But he hasn't yet establshed himself as a consistent threat on the court. Curry gives some glimpses of a great future but he doesn't do it nearly often enought to earn 90 million dollars over a 6-year span. Don't get me wrong, I like Curry and I think he has a great career ahead of him, but I don't think he's ready to earn that kind of money yet. His weight is certainly an issue in the long-run, and he will nenver be successful unless he count down on his eating. As Sir Charles Barkley once said: "That boy needs to learn two words to be great: I'm Full."
Untill Tyson went down with the back problems he was averaging something like 13 and 13. As long as managment thinks his back is ok I say pay the man with the work ethic and the numbers. Eddy has great potential but we are still paying for another flop that had great potential in E-Rob.

The kid has great potential, this is true, but, he was injured all of last year, and, when you're injured for so long, you may never be the same player ever again. I think Chandler needs to stay healthy and have a good and CONSISTENT year before they give him an extension. And just a thought, Tyson was averaging 13 pts and 10.6 rpg before getting injured, but there were inconsistent points. I.E., one game he scored 22, came back the next night and scored only 2 poings. His rebounding was all over the place. He went from 17, to 9, to 3, back up to 11 in a 4 game span. So, neither his scoring or his rebounding is consistent at all.
He is going no where fast..what has he been doing all summer..eating fried chicken with a biscuit full of butter? This is the NBA, the house of the big boys..big by strong, not fat..he isnt going to succeed in the NBA like this..I hope he can trim down quickly and add some more muscle...and I thought Kwame had a bad work habit..

Eddy Curry next Stanley Roberts IMO. kid needs to do some serious work. Send his ass to Bears Training camp. He'll drop 10 lbs in one day.
You know what Eddy Curry may have a weight problem but he is the only one who can control it. I'm a certified personal trainer and it's one thing to work someone out 4-5 times a week and then put them on a weight program. The kicker here is that the trainer is not with that person 24-7 and when they go home you dont have a clue what they eat or dont eat. I think that this may be Eddy's issue here, he may work out hard but he also may screw it up on his own. Eddy's has to want to lose weight to lose it.
