<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Los Angeles Lakers: The Lakers have signed Slava Medvedenko, general manager Mitch Kupchak announced. Contract terms were not disclosed.

"We're very pleased to have signed Slava," Kupchak said. "He is a young and talented player and every year he has made improvements to his game. He's a player that should continue to improve and we expect him to be a solid contributor for years to come."

Medvedenko, a 6-10 forward was originally signed by the Lakers as a free agent prior to the 2000-01 season and was a member of the Lakers 2001 and 2002 NBA Championship teams.

Last season, Medvedenko averaged career-highs in points (8.3) and rebounds (5.0) while helping the Lakers advance to the NBA Finals.</div>

Hopefully we didnt give this bum one of those ridiculously huge contracts a lot of these average scrubs seem to be getting these days

Yup, it's true Medvedenko did sign a 2 year deal for an undisclosed amount. Last season he made $1.54 million, I'm sure he's going to receive more than that this season. Signing Medvedenko is huge for the Lakers because of their lack of players in the Power Forward and Center spots. Medvedenko can somewhat play both positions. He also seems to get better and better every season.

At least we have a big man. Under 7 foot, but he's bigger than most on our roster.

To tell you the truth, Slava hasn't really done much to impress me over the past few years. I have a feeling, though, that without Shaq to take up most of the minutes, he'll do better this season. I hope so at least...

The one thing that I dont like about him is he thinks he is the star so he shoots whenever he can, he does hustle and he does have his games.if he can control his shot selection I would love to have him in the rotation.

Ya Slava wants to be the star. He aint though.............Pure and simple. He can hit the open shots but if you put a decent defender on him hes utterly useless. Its good for the Laker to resign him though. They need more big men. Preferably some one over 7 feet. I can see Kobe complaining Slavas taking his shots next season lol.

Good re-signing. Slava is a solid player. Did anybody see the numbers he put up when Karl got injured? He was on fire!

He didn't put up good numbers until late season, this is real good for the Lakers. He will be a great player.

I hope he does as good as he did last year. He did really good in the playoffs, so hopefully he can be a part of the team.

Read and listen to the piece of pathetic garbage that our GM said about Sloppy Medvedenko. Slava is a young and talented player and he has made improvements to his game? Heh, I guess it's every GM's job to be nice and sincere to his players, but let's face it, this man is pathetic. Shoots too many jumpshots that he can't even make 50% of the time, he can't even easily drop in a 5 footer, his low post defense is horrible and he just absolutely LOVES to foul his opponents whenever he gets beat. A man with a tall presence but full of junk that's messing up our Laker financial and cap system. [IMG]
