I know he already opted out, but is it possible he could stay with the warriors for one year and then try again next offseason? I mean he's with his buddy Foyle and he doesn't have to make any arrangements to pack up and leave just yet. Still would you want this guy if he isn't willing to sacrifice for the team? I dunno big question mark.
In a perfect world he would stay for one year and if the warriors get to the playoffs he might even resign, but it is still a tall order who would start Foyle or Dampier? Would Dampier have any resentment towards the warriors front office? We will just have to wait and see.
I think Damp basically burned all his bridges by opting out right when he could. The funny thing is that I don't think anyone could have predicted the enormity of this off season's moves. I think everyone stole Damp's thunder, instead of being the marquee big man, he's just an after thought. Feagan would usually be working the phones for his client, but if its true that Damp agreed to give him a fixed payment, instead of a percentage, Damp really overvalued himself. I would love to see Damp back in a W's uniform for a year. Maybe things can fall back into place and the W's can make some noise. The irony of the situation would be that if the W's resigned him, all the "experts" out there would start reconsidering Damp as a bust and continuing their bashing of the W's summer moves.
I doubt that he'd re-sign with GS. He's friends with Adonal and knows that Adonal wants playing time, and it's even more crowded with Davis there. I like Damp's strength and presence at the 5, but he'll probably be willing to go elsewhere for the MLE.
I would also love to see Damp back but I say screw him. He opted out and wanted more money and wanted to play for a "winning team." Life's tough Damp, you reap what you sow.

He had a golden opportunity to have 4 more years at 8-10m per year for a team that is up and coming, and he blew us off.
I think Mullins is certainly hoping for that. From hearing interviews with Donnie Nelson (Mav's PD) and reading between the lines, it sounds like Mullins has been not very eager to assist with a sign and trade. He's either waiting for someone to knock his socks off, or he'll resign him, or Damp will go to someone like Atlanta.
^^Mullin also doesn't want to fill the missing piece in Memphis when they will be playing close to us in the West.
Adonal Foyle's contract is bad enough as it is. But if you were to take his contract, with him coming off the bench, and another 10 Million or so on Dampier, it would mess the team up finicially.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">The Warriors would not sign Damp for 10 mil.</div> How much do you think he'll sign for then? He got paid 8 Million last year, though it increased from previous years. Anywhere from 8 million up is bad contract, considering that they gave Adonal Foyle the worse contract in NBA History.
The most they would re sign him for is $4-5m per year. Damp lost the chance at a big contract when we signed Foyle.
I hope that Damp can find a way to resign with the GSW but its obivious that he no longer wants to play in Oakland. He had numerous chances to stay with the team but declined, looking to go elsewhere. I bet that he will end up taking the MLE from some team like ATL.
Just found out that Foyles contract is not as bad as initially thought: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">As for Foyle, who I, like you, previously considered the most overpaid free agent of the summer ... we're all wrong. Turns out the sixth year of Foyle's controversial $42 million deal is a team option. Which means Foyle will most likely never see that money. Which means Foyle's five-year deal is really worth slightly more than $30 million, which means he's only getting slightly above the league's average salary</div>

Do you have a link for that?
Well I want to ask you guys something, why would you want Dampier to stay? To be honest with you, I was rooting for him to average a double double so we wouldn't have to pay the rest of his ridiculous contract. In my eyes Dampier is a baby who messes up team chemistry. He is a talented center on the defensive end but it's because of his physical talent, not because of hustle and when he starts to break down (injury wise) he won't even have his physical ability anymore. He is a better center than Foyle but unless he gets his points he won't board and block shots. The warriors are gonna be more of a up tempo team this year and he wouldn't fit in our plans. Forget that cancer. Getting rid of him and NVE is quite possibly the best thing we could have done this offseason. There are no cancers on this team as of now. Everyone on the roster is a responsible team player who wants to win and will listen to Montgomery. Our chances at the playoffs are better than most fans think.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">That is great news. Do you have a link for that?</div> Link It's ESPN's Marc Steins column, its about different things in the NBA, that's almost all it had about GS, but there's a little more. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Before you bash Chris Mullin on the assumption that he grossly overpaid Adonal Foyle and Derek Fisher, be advised of two very crucial caveats. Fisher got nearly $40 million from the Warriors because Mully is trying to change the culture there. So he paid top dollar to beat out Houston for a veteran of three championship teams. As for Foyle, who I, like you, previously considered the most overpaid free agent of the summer ... we're all wrong. Which means Foyle's five-year deal is really worth slightly more than $30 million, which means he's only getting slightly above the league's average salary. Knowing it was going to lose Erick Dampier, and knowing that Foyle can at least block shots, Golden State giving him $30-plus million over five years doesn't sound nearly as unreasonable.</div> That's the whole thing regarding the Warriors in the article.
^^I pretty much agree with you. I, for one, am glad to see Damp leave after the way he has disrespected this frachise. The guy is a baby and a jerk, have fun in Atlanta sucking even more.
