I dont see any harm in this trade, It gives us another scorer and he's good defensively, Alan Henderson is a good defender. Walker was horrible in every way, most of the time he was on the bench so bring on Terry. But it just sucks that Kidd is now done for us.

Congrats on getting rid of Antoine!!!

I hope you see now why we let you have him for so little.

On behalf of the Boston Celtics, I would like to apologize to Mavs fans for giving him to you, I know how hard he is to watch and how often he makes you want to commit suicide just so you don't have to watch him play anymore.

Did you know that Antoine was once on an ESPN.com list of the 10 most overrated players in pro sports? I don't think he would make the list again if they did it today, because everybody knows he sucks now.

    Thank you Thrila,

On behalf of all Maverick Fans, I humbly accept your apology. I also offer you
my apology for having laughed in ya'lls faces about 10 months ago.
I am truly sorry but hindsight is 20-20.

And on the Raef Lafrenz thing, if there is anything I can do to ease
your pain, just let me know. Words are not enough to overcome the
burden that you must feel knowing you'll have to watch him for six
    more years.

I think we should forget about Kidd now. We have a verey deep team now. I think there will be more trades bwcause we have a lot of players. I have never watched one Hawk game in my life because they always suck unless they were going against the mavs the knicks or the heat those were the only time I saw him play so is terry good. I know he can shoot but was he worth the trade.

I don't really expect much from him anyway.
There is something you can do to ease the pain though....
    Lafrentz for Nowitzki??

Good move for Dallas, but I'm concerned about the Mav's roster ocndition, rather than their cap situation, its looking pretty crappy right now.

I think it's fair to say, Dallas has had a panic attack and torn a huge hole in the team.
At the end of last season, they played pretty well against the Kings and were the 5th seed. This off-season, has seen the Kings lose Divac and Peeler, the Lakers lose Shaq and the Spurs haven't done anything to drastic either. The mavs have aquired way too many gaurds and trading Jamison and Walker doesn't appear to make any sense. Walker was good on the boards, but i can see why they needed to trade him. They should have equalled Nash's offer from the Suns. But trading jamison was a bizzare thing to do.
Now they're stacked at both gaurd positions and sf but Pf and C is looking painfully bleak, ideally i think Dirk should play at SF. So we're now looking at a much weaker team then last year. Cuban should do whatever it takes to get kidd and dampier.

    Dear oh dear oh dear

    LOL

If he ever makes another allstar team, I will boycott the game.

well atl has toine now and we are very excited or at least i am in the direction that outr team is going.

Maybe offensive freedom which is something toine had over there on the celtics is something he needs to shine and i believe atl would not have any problems giveing him that freedom.

Hey maybe he'll play better if hes angry because of this trade and take out his anger on opposition.

also on another thread here on jbb that i really dont know if the inof included on the thread is credible.

Just a thought: A guy states that we might be trading walker for J kidd considering walker is on his last year of his contract which would allow new jersey to dump the salary as they are trying to do.

The Southwest division and Dallas' chances in the playoffs

    hello ppl..

i'm a little concerned with how good the southwest division is gonna be this season. Being the die hard rockets fan that i am, i've started to have doubts about m team making the playoffs, even with all the hype of t-mac. I just wanna noe how the mavs fans feel about this division,n coz we've had a discussion in the rockets forum, and it seems as though the Mavs might have a tough time making the playoffs just like the rockets.. check this division out..

    DAL mavs
    HOU rockets
    MEM grizlies
    NO hornets
    SA spurs

if u think about it, EVERY team in the southwest made the playoffs last yr (rememba the hornets were in the east back then)

Every1 seems to think that the Spurs are automatically in the playoffs.. that they will take the 1st position in our division. IMO the top3 in the southwest shud make the playoffs, so the other 2 teams to make it thru will be btwn rockets, mavs, and grizzlies.. pretty tough huh?

wat do the mavs fans think bout this?

I feel that every team in the southwest division except for the hornets will make the playoffs. But I can see the nuggets, suns, and Jazz fighting the Rockets and the grizzles for the 6 7 and 8 spot

The new southwest division is the best division in the NBA. The Hornets
seem to need Jamal Mashburn and I don't think they can count on him,
so the going will be rough for them. Yes, it will be tough for the Mavs,
but also think about opposing teams that have to go to Dallas, SA and
Houston on a road trip. Last year, that was statistically the toughest
    trip for NBA teams.

OK, on the Mavs, don't discount us yet. Does it seem odd to you that
Atlanta held a press conference today, but the Mavericks did not?
huh? huh? Don't think they are close to done. They have way more
depth than any team in the NBA right now, it isn't even close.
Let's see what moves they make from here.

Dee if a trade was to go down those are the exact players I would think would be involved and Maybe Lattener. I also know there has to be more trades because we have a lot of players on the roster.

    Interesting dates for Mavs fans:
August 15: Date that Stackhouse and/or Laetner can be traded
September 30: Date that Booth can be traded
October 2: Date that Henderson and/or Terry can be traded
December 15: Date that Pavel and/or Devin Harris can be traded

    (date are approximate)

this trade really doesnt make sense for either team...but terry>walker..henderson is serviceable, i think hes a pretty good defender...mavs are loaded at the guard spot with Daniels, Terry, Finley...

The paper says that Dallas also got a $2.7M trade exception as part of the deal.
    Yet another bargaining chip.

Howard, Daniels, Dirk are staying I can tell you that much. The rest of the team is probably on the trading block. Ill be upset if they do trade Finley though.

Josh Howard has been reported in numerous deals so the only players that aren't going to be traded are Marquis Daniels and Dirk Nowitzki
