NFC South will have its third team in the SB this year and next year will be its fourth, you got it the SAINTS. I plan on this happening for a while, cause the Panthers are still in the top 3 for best teams in the NFC, the Falcons look like they're not going anywhere, the Saints need a gap or two filled and they'll get their respect and the Bucs are on the verge of breaking out again. But I really can't wait untill the NFC south plays the NFC east again. When is that??? 2 years from now????? Yeah i love watching Vick running on the Eagles, Brooks throwing on the Cowboys, Panthers D eating up the Giants and the Bucs destroying the Redskins. I love it. And the only reason why i mentioned the NFC east is because of the Eagles, they're descent enough to be mentioned.
The reason the NFC South has done so well in recent years is generally because one team has a monster year and the other three teams stink it up. One team keeps racking up wins and then gets a bye and a home game. In the NFC North, however, there's a reason that it's called the "Black and Blue Division." The best record in the division is generally 10-6 because all four teams kick the crap out of one another week after week and, subsequently, the division champ ends up facing the playoffs on the road.
Atlanta 11-5 New Orleans 8-8 Carolina 7-9 Tampa 5-11 Green Bay 10-6 Minnesotta 8-8 Detroit 6-10 Chicago 5-11 They call it "black and blue" because it's cold as balls up there.
You may not want to hear it, but when a division is sending teams to the Super Bowl frequently, its partly because the division sucks....competitive division partners tend to beat the hell out of each other and that costs them oppurtunites to host playoff games and get byes....the NFC South had one team with a winning record this season, and I believe that was the case last year too....in 2002 the Bucs and Falcons both made the playoffs and that likely cost the Bucs the chance to play the NFC title game at home....

A team from another division STILL HAS YET TO BEAT AN NFC SOUTH TEAM in the championship game for the past two seasons. The NFC South has had a rep in there the past two SB with a chance to do it for a third time. That, to me, speaks volumes about the talent in the NFC South -any team from there has a chance to go to the big dance. Next season, I see the Falcons, Panthers and even the Saints competing for the playoffs. The Bucs need some help.
If it is possible which it may be. I expect the Falcons, Panthers and the Saints all going to the playoffs next year. The Saints will win the division of course.
Carolina will win the division followed by Atlanta. With all their starters back next year they could be very scary
2 questions about the NFC South....#1, Over the last 2 seasons, haw many teams from the division have had a winning record? #2, How many NFL divisions would the Falcons have won with their 11-5 record this season? Heres the answers....#1, a total of 2, the Panthers last year and the Falcons this year, reguardless of what you think, that helps them out when playoff positioning is decided....need proof? Look at question #2, the Falcons record was good enough to win 3 division this season, luckily for them, all three are in the NFC, giving the Falcons an easier road to this point....their record wasnt good enough to win any AFC division, in that conference they would have been the 5th seed and likely would have gone home early like the rest of the non-bye teams....Playoff position and draw are so important, in fact, in most years, seeding dictates who advances....
I have to agree with Beef that seeding has a huge impact on finish in the playoffs. However, you still have to beat whoever is placed on the plate during the regular season to get that wining record. It's fair to say that the new regular season scheduling rules are a huge help to teams who finish in lower half of the division the previous season. The third place team gets ten games against third or fourth place teams the following season. It's not unfair, just making the point that seeding in the regular season can make a difference as well.
For those of you not old enough to have dealt with life before we were (rightly so) hammered with the metric system, think .750 L.
You're right Falcon fans dont agree with Beef. Atleast I dont. I think they deserve a little more credit then that. It doesnt matter what other divisions their record couldnt beat they won NFC South. Thats good enough for me, a win is a win. Also they would not have went home if they didnt get the bye week, they'd still have made it this far...because they're the Falcons. Beef, you're a Falcon fan deep down arent ya!? :cheesey:
Yeah I am....thats the misery....Im from FL, I lived in GA and SC....I like the Falcons, they are in the top 5 of NFL teams I would watch, Ive been to the GA Dome and I have seen them play....but Im also a realist and a look at the numbers indicates that the Falcons, Packers, and Seahawks won weak division, the Packers and Seahawks got home games, which they didnt win, the Falcons got a bye(2 weeks to heal and prepare) for their initial playoff game and they did win....will they win when they play another team that had the same advantage? I dont think they will, but i was wrong before, at least I think I was, hey BF1, have I ever been wrong?
