Fellow Wizzies and other NBA fans rate the Wizards' offseason..I would say it has been pretty succesful..we acquired Antawn Jamison, a B rate star who is a nice addition and meets our biggest needs at the SF, we dumped two cancers to the team in Stackhouse and Laettner. Rumors are that Kwame has beefed up so he can play some C, and his jumper is going down with consistency, lets hope this is his year...we added Vet. guard Anthony Peeler for some nice D and a 3 pt. threat off of the bench. WE drafted Puerto Rican stud John Peter Ramos, a 7'3 C who is 19 years old and looks like the real deal, we managed to keep Etan Thomas, although we did pay him too much.. Negatives: Kwame's broken bone in his right foot..at first rumors where it was a broken ankle, but it is the bone right below the ankle..same injury Jevon Kearse had and it can take anywhere from a month-a year to heal, lets hope his is only a month...Ernie Grunfeld said that it wasnt to serious and he would be able to still hit the weights, and in about a month start riding a stationary bike... Myself I would rate it about an 8 especially because we acquired Jamison. So there you have it...Rate away..
I'd give us an 'A'. here is why: Jamison for stack, smokin' laett was killer. even if it did cost us the #5 pick. Unless Childress becomes the next Ice Man or Deng becomes Detroit Grant Hill...then it was a no-brainer. Picking up someone that was a virtual lock for the late teens, early twenties of the 1st round in the 2nd round that's also 7'3" was a steal. let's hope that he turns out to be the gem that blake has become. Signing Peeler - at first i wasn't too excited, but then I remembered that he had the sack to pick a fight with KG. and it's good to see us sign a solid vet that has only played with winners and can contribute. But most importantly, I see for the first time ever we will likely keep our entire young core together. Unless we trade dixon or haywood before tip-off. continuity is what builds perenial contenders.
I dont think trading Dixon or Haywood would disrupt are young core, I dont think they are part of it because they havent done much for us..Haywood has hands of stone, while Dixon is good off of the bench when we are behind..other than that he isnt worth it...they are both expendable... I think this is our young core: John Peter Ramos, Kwame Brown, GIlbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison, Steve Blake, and Larry Hughes.
I'd rate it a B+, or a 7.5 out of 10. I liked that we were able to get rid of Stackhouse and Laettner, and in the process get a player that can contribute well to the team. Anthony Peeler was a good addition, and I was actually hoping for the team to sign him. Michael Ruffin is no star, but he can play defense and rebound, and that should help for an end of bench player. The team is fairly deep at every position, and Kwame improving will solidify the team becoming good. Marcus Fizer could have also been a good Kwame insurance player, but if Kwame is fine then it's all good. The Additions to the team were: Jamison, Peeler, John Ramos, and Ruffin. If the team can get Avery Johnson I'll be happy, he knows how to run an offense and isn't a star but is a good player-coach type player that can help Arenas and Blake.
I think you guys had a pretty productive offseason. you get a 20 point per game scorer in Jamison who will flourish in Washington, and all you had to do was give up crap. Anthony Peeler is solid backup who will provide a scoring punch of the bench and will be good mentor for your young gaurds. I'd give you guys an 8/10. I think you have a good chance at a playoff spot now.
It's been a week or two since i have seen what has happened to my Wizards. I just read the news about our need wizards. Anthony Peeler is definitely a good choice. I'm too sure about Samaki but ok. I hate to say it to everybody but i told you so about Peter John Ramos. He's been killing in international games. And he will only get better once he puts on a Wizards jersey this coming season. But as I would love to say we getan A. I have to say we get an actual B-. Even though the off-season is so important the true time to shine will be during the NBA season. I feel we probably could of gotten a better center but Samaki will have to do. Atleast we get to see Kwame at PwdFoward and Jamison will play the three spot ... I wish the best to the wizards, and hopefully they will prove me wrong and Become and A...

Eh, I think the Wizards did pretty well... Not that I agree with this guy completely, but here's an article: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=cnns...cnnsi&type=lgns
