I think the raptors will have a great season with vince carter staying healthy all games. Bosh will continue to grow and become more aggressive and average a double double. Aroujo will improve and be a big surprise and eventually earn a spot as a starter. Donyell marshall will earn 6th man of the year honors and Vince will be a top 5 leading scorer. Raptors will lead their divison despite having one of the harshest schedules in the NBA. Mo peterson will be a surprise as he takes his game closer to the basket and slashing inside more, but still being able to knock down the three wen we need it. We make playoffs and advance to second round. Carter becomes more of a perimeter shooter and his 3 point percentage stays above 40%. Jalen Rose has a terrible season shooting under 40% and loses his spot as a starter. Rafer Alston will get Most improved player of the year averaging 10 a game and 7+ assists.

(I hope carter doesnt turn into more of a perimeter shooter though, I wish he still tried to keep his game more based around his athleticism and ability to get fouled and finish strong in the lane.)

Carter will take it to the hole more this season with Rafer Alston being able to dish the ball like only he can and Rafael Araujo holding the fortress with his size. I don't agree with you on Jalen Rose though, this guy's gonna be even better when the ball is off his hand.

That'll be great.. but to be realistic, the Raptors are going to feel the necessity to trade either Donyell Marshall or Morris Peterson because it will be tough to play both of them for over 16 MPG.. I don't know.. I guess we'll see on Nov. 2nd

You guys are too optimistic. The raptors aren't that good. The best they could do is finish 2nd or 3rd in their division and 6-8 in the conference, if they even make the playoffs.

Vince Carter: Statistics will be 25, 5, 5... Vince will only miss 4 games... Vince will have a better season than any SG except for Kobe's... Vince will have a career season... Vince will lead the Raptors to the playoffs... Vince will drive in more and shoot less. Vince will be nominated to the All-NBA 3rd team and only be an honorable mention for the All-Defensive team.
Chris Bosh: Statistics will be 16, 9, 3... Mister Lanky will play all 82 games... Bosh will be the 3rd best sophomore like he was as a rookie behind none other than James and Anthony... Bosh will be one of the best defensive players in the league and get nominated to the All-Defensive 2nd Team... He will be the 2nd best Raptor next year.
Jalen Rose: Statistics will be 17, 5, 7. Rose will miss 32 games due to a broken hand but he will one of the reasons the Raptors made the playoffs... Rose will be very productive in the playoffs.
Rafael Araujo: Statistics will be 13, 10, 2. Araujo will play all 82 games... Araujo will be productive in stopping players down low. Araujo will not be a bust, he will play like what he's capable of.
Rafer Alston: Statistics will be 10, 8, 4. Alston will play 70 games... Alston will drastically compliment Vince's game with alleyoops and other sweet passes for better, more comfortable shots and slashes... Alston
Toronto Raptors: They will finish 2nd behind the Knicks in the Atlantic Division and finish 6th in the eastern conference with a 44-38 record... The Raptors will make the playoffs and beat the 'Sixers in the first round and get eliminated through 7 games in the second round versus the Knicks.
Off-Season: Rose will be traded... Alston will be traded... Araujo will be looked back at as one of the best rookies of 2005.

I think over 40 wins and a playoff birth should be possible. Injuries can't hold the team down FOREVER. Rap have had enough bad luck in that area anyway, it's about time they're given a break... if the team stays together as far as body wise, I think Raps are good to go. Vince, Bosh and Rose are three key players bottom line, and Rafer Alston and Araujno def need to step their games up to prove their worth.

    - Raptors will finish the season 2nd or 3rd in the Atlantic
    - They will get between 40 and 44 wins for the season, and 5-7th place in the East.
    - Vince averages 25.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists while playing better defense
    - Bosh averages 15.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks
    - Rafer Alston averages 11.1 points, 7.1 assists, and 3.4 rebounds
    - Jalen Rose averages 15.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists
    - Rafael Araujo averages 7.1 points, and 5.9 rebounds
    - Marshall will average 12.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks off the bench, and get traded mid-season.
    - Morris Peterson averages 9.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and plays very good defense for the Raptors off the bench

13 and 10? Someone's extrmely hopefull, Araujo won't get enough minutes to average that with Bosh, Marshall, Moiso, and Woods as the other big men.

my prediction is with the current roster configuration barring any major trades:

    raps win the atlantic

vince averages 22 ppg, 5 boards, 4 assists
    bosh averages 17ppg, 9 boards, 2 blocks
    jalen 17ppg, 5 assists, 4 boards
    araujo 4ppg, 5 boards, 22 minutes
    rafer 12ppg, 7 assists, 33 minutes
    donyell 12ppg, 8 boards, 30 minutes
    mo. pete 10ppg, 30 minutes
    alvin 6 ppg, 3 assists, 20 minutes
    moiso/woods/bonner 8ppg, 6 boards, 15 minutes

    record: 45-37

    season notes

raps leads the east in scoring

coach mitchell gets coach of the year consideration for the 12 win turnaround.

vince and his wife experience tensions in their marriage and the toronto star covers it in a front page story.

kevin o'neill rips peddie and the organization when the pacers come to toronto, the globe and mail covers that

a fractious situation arises with lammond murray and babcock

and finally, peddie gets fired because he gets too involved in the hockey dispute, de-legitimizing mlse publicly. and vince recommends nav bhatia (the superfan) as the replacement) for the vacant CEO position

with that my fellow raptors fanatics ensues another summer of drama as they make another important hire without consulting vince

raps are 2nd in their division
win 44/45 games (if Carter is healthy) [IMG]
Raps might even make 2nd round of playoffs and push it to 6 or 7 games before bowing out
Bosh averages 16 and 9 (and will be forced to play at center, but less then last season)
mosio proves what he can do and will be an average bench player
Donny will be in trade rumours until the last second of the trade deadline
Alvin Williams will stay realitivaly heathy now that he has a bench role
Rafael Araujo will struggle but will but will produce 12 and 9 in may
    lamond murray... [IMG]
mo pete will shock everyone by averaging 10-12 points and even more when players are injured. But is contribution will go beyond stats

all of the above is if the raptors stay relativly healthy

So you think he'll have a better season than Wade? I can't see that happening. Wade will improve a tonne, with the addition of the Diesel

Here's my pessimistic outlook for next season (I always have low hopes so I won't be too disappointed when they lose and I'd be pleasantly surprised if they have a fantastic season):

    - They finish with a .470 winning percentage and just barely miss the playoffs.
    - Vince Carter will get injured once again and will sit out for 10+ games. He will continue to jack up shots from the perimeter in fear of getting injured while attacking the bucket. However, he will continue to do the things to make those around him better (passing, attracting attention, etc.). Overall, it wouldn't be much of an improvement from last season.
    - The trio of centers (Araujo, Moiso, & Woods) will be a disappointment. As a result, Bosh will be forced to play center until one of them can step up. Araujo will be the most promising of the bunch but his inexperience will cause him to struggle for most of the season. It will take him a while till he becomes the starting center. Because of this, Babcock will spend the whole season trying to bring in an effective center and will be unsuccessful.
    - Alston will do a great job as a starting PG averaging 7.5 assists and AW will be good coming off the bench. Our point guard problem will be solved but our lackluster front court will still haunt us.
    - Bosh will continue to improve playing both the PF & C positions. However, it will take him a few more years till he makes a major impact on the team.
    - Rose will continue to play hard and be an effective 2nd option averaging 17ppg. He will keep us at a respectable record when Carter goes down.

Those are the main points for next season. I hope I'm wrong though......

^ Yep that's what I was getting at. We'd really be no different next season then we were last season (pessimistically speaking).

I say we lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Vince gets injured for 5-7 games...but still remains the focal point in this team averaging 24 pnts 5 brds, 5.5 assists. Vince also develops himself as a leader on this team. Alston has a great year averaging 12 and 7. Bosh's game becomes more polished and more smoother...even though he does not gain much weight over the summer. He averages something around 15, 10, 2 assists, 2 blocks. Lamond.....? Mo Pete does a better job tha last season...but still remains inconsistent. Moiso proves himself and becomes a great bench player. Marshall becomes frustrated due to his lack of playing time and demands a trade...even though he is a very effective player averaging 14, 8, and 3. Rose has a better year than the previous, averaging 15, 5, and 5 and 2.5 turnovers. Alvin accepts his role on the bench and is very effective for us. Finally, Arujo is an early season bust...but as time goes on, his game develops and he has a healthy 2nd half of the season, averaging altogether 9, 6, and 2.
