BUt could it be possible that after playing and being successive, Carter will realize that Raptors is the team he wants to play for after all? But with the first month they have, all that losing might make matters worse.
why is it always the friggin agent that messes things up? Look at Carlos Boozer and Rob Pelinka, the two sides had totally different things to say after the signing happened and Pelinka resigned because he was scared his reputation will be hurt. Now it's Carter and Steinberg, if Carter said he is staying in Toronto, why is his agent coming out and saying *bleep* like he has asked to be traded? Why are these ppl so thirsty of media attention? *Bleep*in attention whores.
If we're going to trade Vince, we should not trade him at a time when his value is at its low. We don't have to listen to him. He signed a contract, made a commitment to the team and has to stick by that. However, the team has changed since then, but he can't just ask for a trade and be gone, with us getting very limited talent in return. The Management should tell him that all we can get for him is Shandon Anderson, bad contracts and a bag of rice...so if he wants us to trade him, he has to play like he has in previous years, so his value could get higher, and we could get more in return.
Vince the crybaby I love Vince Carter. Period. Having said that, i'm sick and tired of reading all this crap and listening to the talk that Vince and his handlers want a trade. How can Vince demand a trade from the Raptors? This team has treated him like a king. Signed to max money without hesitation, Carter has many privlidges that most players don't. His main beef is with Richard Peddie, because he wasen't consulted when a new coach and GM were hired. Does this sound stupid to anyone other than me? You are a professional athlete, act like one. You signed a multi year deal to play basketball in this city, not to be an assistant GM, or any other management position for that matter. If Vince threatens to sit, I SAY SIT. What is the point of securing an asset such as a star player like vince, only to give into him whenever he wants? Look at Orlando, they made a gamble on Grant Hill and it bit them in the ass. But what can they do? They can't demand that he retires or void his contract, they grit their teeth and bear it. Why is it that players can demand trades whenever they want? They make gambles by signing long term contrats. You don't wanna take that gamble, sign for shorter terms. It seems they want the security of a long term contract, with the flexibility of a short term pact. Owners and teams were supposidly givin measures to ensure fairness in retaining their investments. But with these stupid trade demands and sign and trade deals, they have given players all the power. Next time a free agent threatens to leave a team, even though they can get more money from their original team, I SAY LET THEM WALK. Don't give in and give them a sign and trade. LET THEM SIGN FOR LESS MONEY. But thats another topic.............To players such as VINCE, PEJA, and Shareef, if you were playing on my team, i'd say get your ass on the court for my team, or grab a seat, cause you won't be playing anywhere else.
hahaha, spoken like a true college coach. Thats true tho, Vince is taking life in T.O. for granted. If he played in a tougher city, like Philly or New York, he wouldn't be able to handle it. Imagine him tryin to replace Iverson, where he wouldn't be allowed to shy away from the basket. I'm happy wit Babcock decision tho. He realizes Carter has no bargaining power like other players who got traded this year, and he ignored him. If Carter was smart he'd realize the best way to be traded is to get on the court and play harder than before.
first of...may i suggest paragraphs for future reference. lol secondly...i agree that vince has no right to bitch about not being involved in the descision making process of a new GM and coach. HOWEVER vince was told by peddie that he would be involved, so no wonder he got upset about it. peddie is at fault here, not vince. peddie shouldnt have told vince in the first place that he WOULD be involved in hat process. vince is a player and has no business doin that kind of thing...so peddie shouldnt have said anything about it in the first place i am sick of all this gossip...i just want to know if he's staying or leaving
"How can Vince demand a trade from the Raptors? This team has treated him like a king." most bs statement ever made... Vince has requested help at positions and made many suggestions that were completely disregarded.. at his charity games he asks people to come to toronto and play with him because the management wont do nothin.. he has faced much unnecessary criticsm and negativity from the fans, media, etc.. during his games people shouting "DONT GET INJURRED" all that is not how a king should get treated.. toronto raptors havent dpme as much as it can to benefit the team or keep its players happy.. i would have left toronto a long time ago if i were vince.

For example, Vince asked the Raps to go after Magloire and Nash this off season. Anyone who knows anything about the salary cap would know that the Raps do not have the assets to get these players. The only way that would have happened would have been through trades. Then the Raps would have had to off load Jalen or Alvin. But if you are another team, why would you take players with multiple years left on their contracts for which they are being incredibly over paid? It started when the Raps went to the playoffs vs Philly. That summer Grunwald secured Alvin, Antonio, and JYD for long term deals at rediculous amounts. The Raps are stuck with those bad contracts. Although JYD and AD aren't here anymore, we did get stuck with Jalen's contract in exchange. We still have Alvin's as well. That's why we can't surround Vince with great players, we have all our money tied up in players who are overpaid. I'm not sure if Vince had any say in those signings (but giving his relationship with Grunwald I'd say he most definitely did), but that is why we are where we are. One superstar on a team that is being forced to build on draft picks because we can't afford anything else. You know, Grunwald made one good move getting Vince, but the rest of the moves he made were absolutly terrible!
^Well said Jenike. But Vince has endorsed a lot of deals that Toronto has done in the past ie. Olajuwon, Lenny Wilkens and Kevin O'neil. I wouldn't solely blame it on Grunwald. He was a puppet.
i dont think he actually wants a trade i think its his agent cause i remember reading some were that he wants him in ny cause thats were washed up players go to make a large amount of money such asa hardaway and housten
Of course. What other reason would there be for him wanting to be in New York? They're not even close to winning a championship. Heck, they probably won't make the playoffs. It isn't the fans.. he'd get ripped up in NY if he acted like this there. I heard this from a friend.. a reliable source but i don't know how true this is. Apparently, the reason he wants to leave (or one of them) is that he has a clause in his Nike contract that allows him to get bonuses if he moves to a huge market such as there would be in NY. He'd get a bonus just for going there. I don't think Vince personally cares whether he goes to NY or not. We all know that he likes it here (unless he's lying, in which case.. damn him), but he's also got some problems here and wouldn't mind leaving either. Whatever the case, it's mostly his agent talking. If im not mistaken, agents get around 5% of what their clients make? His agent is pushing him to NY, not Vince. He doesn't care where he plays.
^^^ yea the same thing wit kobe the only reason he was about to sign with ny was because nike would double his 45 million dollar contract to 90
so wack, stupid nba players... i wont play here cuz they wont pay me 45 million but ill stay here cuz they pay me 47.. blah blah.. honestly if i was in the nba.. its not about the money yo your getting paid MILLIONS TO PLAY BASKETBALL... Nothing i love more than playing basketball and im getting paid MILLIONS... money wouldnt be a factor with me.. id gow here i want.. take a few mil pay cut.. wow now i only make 13 mil.. LoL its insane
Ahhhhh the drama! Who says the offseason is boring? There's more smack goin around than on Big Brother!
its ridiculous how basketball players play for the money but not for the passion of the game. i mean would thier life style really change if they earned 90 million instead of 50 million? i wouldn't think it makes that much of a difference. most people won't even earn 1 million in their entire lives
You guys forget one thing. Vince was the one lobbying for us to bring in Olajuwan.. lobbying for us to resign Alvin, Davis, and JYD, so he would resign because he liked the core of players. Now we're stuck with those contracts, or the contract we traded for. So we cant do much to improve our team now.. its partly on Vince for wanting us to bring those guys back, so we could keep him. The fans in Toronto have treated him great, sold out his charity game every year but this one.. showed up to the games, Canada has taken a great part in him starting in the All-Star game every year, his jersey sales are great.. hes just loved around Toronto. That being said, to be respected, you have to give respect back to the city.. and all this trade bullshit, if you WANT to be traded, come out and say it, dont dance around it.. just say it. If not, shutup and play, and TELL US that you want to be here. You play well, the city will treat you well, the team will win, the head office treats you well, its all a chain. Dont give up on what you created buddy. He made bad judgement on the drafting of Chris Bosh, and now hes complaining about other Raptor decisions, ride it out.
vince did not lobby to get olajuwan , he wanted a veteran centre... grunwald made the call on olajawan... its clear that was a bust. fans in toronto have knocked him more htan fans in the states... toronto fans dont love vince i dunno what u ppl think.. there are more rose fans than vc fans. Everyone stops watching the games unless they can go live.. and if they dont see vince dunk they hate him.. vince don thave to say nothing, i wouldnt if i were him.. all these ppl.. id would remain silent.
Well Management should not listen to VC no matter what...He lobbied for the Raps to resign those contracts in 2001, and also he wanted us to trade our 4th pick in the 2003 draft for a vet. Vince help to create this mess in TO, so he better help fix it.

What city are you living in man. Rose is DEFINATELY not more popular than Vince Carter. The only other Raptor in history to even come close to Vince's popularity in Toronto is JYD.
