<div class="quote_poster">Quoting realdealbneal:</div><div class="quote_post">Okay...the way I look at it, if they are favs in the Pacific, they are favs in the playoffs. They can get a top 3 seed if they win their division...and that means possibly avoiding the Spurs until the West Finals...and hopefully Minnesota can take care of the Rockets, or something...seriously, the West is going to be really hard to predict [IMG]</div>
I agree. The west is the toughest to predict this year. I would go for the trade if it involved trading Payton, Fox, and Rush for Kidd. that would be a good trade IMO for the Lakers. Trading a 36 year old PG for a 31 year old "true" point guard would be great!

The only bad thing about that trade IMO is sending Rush...but I guess it would be worth it. I'd rather throw away Cook...I can't stand that babyface. I just feel as if Rush really wants to play, whereas Cook just wants to watch Kobe dunk.

Yeah, but giving up Rush for a real point guard. There is no debate. Rush, payton, cook, and fox for Kidd. CoME'on! Kupchak, read this post and go after him!

Well, this trade is pretty much dead. Since the Lakers traded two of the players that can make this deal happen in Fox and GP. Unless the Lakers package a deal involving George, Cook, Butler, and the newly acquired Banks (after 60 days of course), but I think the Lakers will be giving up a lot more than they are getting.

Way to go Mitch Cupcake. Trading 2 Hall of Famers in Shaq and GP for virtually no-name players.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ace2k2:</div><div class="quote_post">Im srry but the Nets would be retarded to give up a top 5 player in the league and the best PG who can make any one better for:

Gary Payton: an aging center way past his prime. I also dont think he would want to go to NJ.
George: he can only hit the open 3 and thats it. Horrible contract.
Fox: HE said he would retire if he gets traded from LA and I doubt Nets want this Pansy.
    Brian Cook: Total Scrub

You would have to give up at LEAST CAron to get the Nets to even consider your offer.</div>

You are exactly right. They are not even good players but that expresses my point. I don't want the lakers to trade for somebody that has a huge contract and give up some young talent as well to get Kidd that starting to get up there in age. Im just curious to see how this new laker team is especially since they just traded payton and fox for mihm, banks, and atkins.

I would rather see him in Dallas. I can't stand the Lakers and of course I don't want to see Kidd go. But I want him to get a ring and he won't get it in NJ coz we're rebuilding.

Any of you who think that the Lakers will win a ring by adding Jason Kidd are either high or stupid. I would still take the Wolves or Spurs before LA. Last time I checked Kidd's Net's only came out of the east those two years because......they were in the east. Yes, Shaq is not in the west anymore, but contrary to popular belief (among ignorant Laker fans) Shaq was not the only western big man.

Is Kidd going to make people better while playing alongside Kobe? No. Kobe will still handle the ball like a pg and shoot the ball every time there are 2 or fewer people guarding him [IMG] . Kobe would have more help (pending the trade for Kidd) than he had last year.

Regardless, Kobe now has "his" team, and is going to treat it that way. He will act like Tmac, Pierce, and AI, jacking up shots and padding his stats simply because he can.

Jason Kidd, is not a scorer. He wont be able to set people up if he doesn't have the ball. Unless Lamar Odom, Brian Grant, oh yeah and Vlade develop a running game Kidd is going to feel ridiculously out of place.

OK, first off, the trade isn't going to happen in the first place. If they make the trade, they are capped out for eternity, and will not be able to make any moves for a decade. LA is trying to build a young, talented team around Kobe, so no way they give up so much of their youth for one player who's past his prime with an enourmous contract and a questionable knee.

Besides, like Jurassic said, Kobe finally got "his team," and kupchak isn't going to threaten that status by signing another superstar.

Even if they do end up with Kidd, LA still aren't the favorites to win the West, though, if healthy, they would be a threat.

However, I'm gonna have to disagree with Jurassic on one point. Pierce, T-Mac, and AI aren't "jacking up shots and padding [their] stats simply because [they] can." Those players all jack up as many unwise shots as they do becuase they needed to for their respective teams. Pierce's shooting % wasn't nearly as bad when he had other scorers on the team, and will improve again this coming year with the infusion of talent. T-Mac is a superstar w/o any teammates that could help, and had to do it all himself this year, and that will change as well with Yao as his new sidekick. And AI has proves that he can play an unselfish point when surrounded by talent (see his All-Star and Intern't performances).

he'll make a difference in terms of standings, but not a difference in terms of winning a title.
