    MacCulloch Retires

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">King also indicated that Sixers center Todd MacCulloch, who sat out all of last season with a foot neuropathy, seemed to be moving closer to retiring.

"There won't be anything official until training camp, but the odds of him playing aren't great," King said. "He understands; we understand."

If MacCulloch retires, the Sixers could recoup 80 percent of the remaining $19 million-plus on his contract through '06-07; his money could come off the cap as soon as February '05.</div>

Sad day for MacCulloch, but I definetely saw this coming. The man has trouble walking, let alone running around on a hardwood floor for 30+ minutes. The money situation however comes at a very good time, right before the trade deadline, though it is not certain that he will retire, and even if he does that the money will reach us by that time, but always good to have some hopes.

Yeah I saw that earlier. Todd was a great guy and a Philly favorite and will be missed. And even though his radio broadcast during the Sixers games is horrible, I do hope they keep him on if he chooses to stay. It'd be nice to know he's still following us. [IMG]

Very mis-leading heading ... MacCulloch Retires ... I thought you had something definite. It still is only a probably .... We knew that.

It was just a matter of time before he called it quits. With the rare foot disease of his, he showed no signs of making a come back. From my knowledge, at one time he though he was ready and attempted to practice in the Sixers facility, but he just couldn't do it. And it was from that point on, where everything went downfall for him. Well, good luck to him to Big Mac. Hopefully, he could remain active in the Sixers organization somehow.

About time he retired and gave up. I guess that means more money for us to throw around. Anyway Todd was a great guy for us and I used to love his great hands down in the post and that little jumper too. Well, at least we know he wanted to come back and that he gave it a shot.

[IMG] It's a shame that MacColloch couldn't make a comeback, he was definately one of my favorite 76ers. But at this point it would be best if he retired. Good luck to him.

Sorry to T-mac I was hoping he could make a come back. He is a good guy and I would have liked to see him back. Though this is probably for the best. He had a big contract if he retires the team gets cap room. He also would not have seen many minutes in the rotation beign that he would have to play behind dalembert, skinner, and jackson.

If he had come back I think the sixers would have had to trade someone before the trade deadline. Hopefully he can continue to contribute to the team in the small wyas he can. Mabye he may be a assistant coach. Like Pat Ewing became when he retired first for the wiz then now with the rockets.

I saw this coming. Their was no cure for his foot problems. It's sad to see this happen, he was one of the better Centers in the league, and was getting better game by game. Who knows, maybe he would of been the best Canadian center ever, and currently ahead of Jamal Magloire. And by the way his last name is MacCullough

Wow this is a shame. The guy had so much potential and was getting better by every season. The sad part is hes only 28. I guess its better for him to retire so we have more cap room than for him to stay on our cap and haunt us. Still Ill miss seeing him he always hussled too. There was no way for him to come back though with his foot disease. As many otheres have said I hope he remains a part of our organization.
