With the latest acquisition of Corliss Williamson, I'm pretty sure this may have been our last move this offseason. We know how Billy King is a little hesitant on making moves, so it's real likely that this was our last move... But so far what do you think of this off-season? <u>76ers Offseason</u> <ul>Jim O'Brien Named 76ers Head Coach
<ul>Hire New Coaching Staff
<ul>Drafted 9th Pick in the NBA Draft- Andre Iguodala from Arizona
<ul>Signed Brian Skinner
<ul>Traded Eric Snow to Cleveland in exchange for Kevin Ollie and Kedrick Brown
<ul>Traded Derrick Coleman and Amal McCaskill for Corliss Williamson
Personally, I think we had a good offseason. Aside from the transactions that we?ve made, we?ve also have a new look and feel. We?re going to be a completely different team from last season, and we also have a new and improved Iverson on our hands as well. Post your thoughts on this offseason?
We could never have hoped for a better off-season. The only thing that could make it better is if they would find a way to get another big-body (7+) to back-up Dalembert. If Dalembert goes down, all this stuff goes out the window. With no shot blocker the defense is stressed.
We had a very productive off season.its a new era in Philly and I think we made some big changes for the better. We made some decent trades and got some role players back. The Sixers are finally looking towards their young players and we are now making smarter moves for the future. Even though it looks like are off season transactions are now probally done,we will have a big one next year now that we are making some cap space, this means a big name player could be in Philly next year playing along side AI and could maybe be the answer we are looking for to assist AI.
Breaking down the sixers off season they made one bad move and made several good ones. So I think it more than evens out to us being a good team. First in the nba draft taking Iggy. Good move in some ways some ways a bad move. Good because he is young and athletic and will provide some good plays on the break. Bad because he may develope into a Tim Thomas type player minus the jump shot. As he sucks from three point range and has a less than decent jumper I see him being a darius miles type player his first couple of years in the league getting most of his points on the break. Then trading snow. Good move in some ways bad in others. Ok good because AI moves back to point giving us better matchups on the defensive end of the ball. Now we can also give up and coming player willi green starting minutes after he performed well last year. Bad because AI has not played point since the start of his career minus all star games so we dont know how he will ajust to the position also bad because we got one another small forward in brown that means we now have Robinson, Salmons, Korver, Iggy, and Brown. Also we got ollie. A guy who is top 10 in the league in assists to turnover ratio, but cant do much else and has a huge contract. Then we got Skinner. Second best move in the off season for us imho. He can get you so many boards and give you a great two man rotation in terms of rebopunding between him and thomas. He also can play some 5 which will probably be best for dalembert to get rests since jackson is injury prone. Then the Williamson trade best move in the off season for us. He is a former sixth man of the year. He gives us yet another small forward, but he is a good move because he is the same size as thomas so with that and the lack of size in the east he can play some 4 for us. He also gives us two former sixth men of the year of the bench. Then we got him for nothing. Coleman was either gona be traded or have his contract bought out. Amal showed no potential and was probable not gona be signed by us or any nba team unless they wanted a body. Then we got a good new coach in JO though I dont like is what he is doing to korver. Telling him to shoot the threes I dont want a walker type player on the team who shoots you out of the game with bad threes. I am glad he is going to a run and gun offense makes things alot more fun when watching games. With AI at point possibly the new nets of the east in terms of the fast break?

You can also find it on a few personally nba sites that people have. They may have them there as well. Or just go to each teams roster and check that would work to.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post"> <ul>Jim O'Brien Named 76ers Head Coach
</div> A Great move. Iverson didnt fit in very well at all with Randy Ayers and Chris Ford. I dont like him tellling Korver o shoot 3's. I mean I know he is a good 3 point shooter, but I dont want him to froce shots up when he doent have a good shot. I believe their new style of play will be similar to the Bucks if you guys ever watch them(they're pretty exciting stly of play. Switching AI to the point and bring Willie into the line up are some of my favorite moves too. Since WIllie is my 2nd favorite Sixer <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post"> <ul>Hire New Coaching Staff
</div> Not really too sure about this havnt heard much of it. srry. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post"> <ul>Drafted 9th Pick in the NBA Draft- Andre Iguodala from Arizona
</div> A great pick for us IMO. I'm surprised he slipped this far back. I thought he would of gone in top 6 or something. From what I'v heard (havnt really seen him play ) he is a great perimeter defender. He sounds comparible to Scottie Pippen IMO. I think he will serve us as a good defender in his first few years. I personally think he will develop like Ron Artest. Start out by being a defender and keep working on that and then gaining some skills on the offensive end. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post"> <ul>Signed Brian Skinner
</div> A great move as we need a big body. I still wish we had a person over 7 feet though. ITs also great as he is entering his prime and is a underrated defender. HE is coming off of his best year yet. He could develop a 3 man rotation with Sammy, Kenny, and himself. I think Marc JAckson will get hurt again so I'm not going to depend on him much. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post"> <ul>Traded Eric Snow to Cleveland in exchange for Kevin Ollie and Kedrick Brown
</div> Our worst move. THis move really sucks. Eric Snow kept our team together and is a top 5 pure point guard. We gain a crappy player in KEdrick Brown andn a bad contract in Kevin Ollie. I thought Billy King learned his lesson about bad contracts. AI will play point again which im kind of glad. I was hoping we could have Eric come off the bench and develop a 3 man rotation with AI and Willie. Cavs basically stole Eric SNow from us while unloading their garbage. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post"> <ul>Traded Derrick Coleman and Amal McCaskill for Corliss Williamson
</div> O yeah I love this move lol. Hes a great player and we lose Coleman(who we were going to buy out) and McCaskill who did basically shit for us. We also gained a former 6th man of the year. He'll provide a nice spark off the bench. Our bench is looking very deep now and I love it. Theres my 2 cents.

With an intimidating player like Allen Iverson on the team, (Ask KVH) Kyle Korver will know his limits. I doubt he will want to take too many of Iverson shots. But the thing that worries me most about him is, that he somewhat rushes his shot. With him having no other key aspects in his game other than his range, he can?t take anyone off the dribble, pass the ball or do anything to create room for himself. Instead? They should try running the high-screen and roll like Nash and Dirk once did. This play was executed perfectly by Nash and Dirk. However I don't if it will work Iverson/Green & Korver, but they should run that play if they want Korver to get some good looks. It?s a much better option than him taking wild shots imo.
