ESPN Sports Radio is reporting Peja Stojakovic has been traded to the Pacers for Ron Artest and rookie James Jones. I got this from KingsFans.com so take it for what it worth (since I don't have ESPN SR).
Hey if Peja goes to the Pacers, maybe we can squeeze Bender out of them now? Custodian: Pedrag is the spelling in Serbian, the 'dr' together phonetically make what would best be described as a slurred 'ch' sound. So, 'Peja' is the anglicized phonetical version. And there's no way Biendris (Be-An-DRICH-while we're on the subject of phonetics) will not be ready this year for power forward. You should listen to the Monty interview in the KNBR archives, he all but says so. If he plays ten minutes a game this year, I have a feeling it will be at the three.
well the trade is off...at least for today: From the Kingsfans.com, where MK got the original rumor (From ESPN Radio) Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just got it from a reliable source at Kings HQ that no trade has occurred, and beyond that, Petrie has no intention of trading Peja. The source said: "Unless Joe Maloof has turned into Mark Cuban and is making trades on

Wasn't sure about the actual phonetics of Predrag just like how Biedrens Bee-ay-drins is actually "Bee-ahn-drisch". Same thing got me confused about the player Wang Zhizhi (it's actually something like Wong Shzih-Shzih not Wang Zee Zee) Got me confused but it's good to know. How the heck is Mickael Pietrus pronounced I wonder? Anyway that's offtopic, but thanks! I hope we do get Bender. That guy is a freak. 7 feet tall and super athletic with long range shooting and shotblocking. Making that guy a small forward or a guard would be a super huge mismatch in our favor. However, we're all aware of his faults on defense and that alone could spell the difference in whether he'll be a true impact player for our club if he can't be a high volume/ high percentage, consistent scorer.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">Do you guys think a trade of Damp/Jrich for Peja would work? I think it would in the pts/rebs department.</div>I like Peja, but I think it would be a disaster to trade Jrich or Pietrus for him because Peja is still a complimentary player to Chris Webber (too bad he wasn't healthy this year or the last or the one before it), much like Jrich would be to somebody else if we had such a superstar like (a healthy) Cweb (if Pietrus ever breaks out like Michael Jordan, then he's our new star). Peja did have his moments when Webber was out (a lot of good moments). Peja's a very good player though, but he's still considered a type of role player because he can't carry a team in the clutch. Put Trenton Hassell on him (or any good perimeter defender) and he'll struggle during a series (like during the playoffs). I like the fact he could improve outside shooting, free throw shooting for the W's and the fact he has good vision of the court, passing skills, and decent ballhandling, but we could potentially already have all those things in Dunleavy if ever improves that blasted shot of his, improves his free throws, defense and learns to take contact in the paint when going for the drive like Peja. That's a lot of things actually. IMO I think Peja is the best pure shooting small forward in the league and wouldn't mind trading Dunleavy for him since Dunleavy was projected in some scouting circles to have a game similar to Peja or Dirk Nowtizki. I don't think the Kings would like that trade since Jr. hasn't made any big splash yet, but we could trade potential for the proven real deal.
My opinion on Peja is that he was under serious consideration as being the league MVP. You dont get there by just being a complimentary player. When Peja was blowing up the league, Webber was rehabbing. Who then was the star that Peja was complimenting? Bibby? Miller? Divac? Christie? Peja was the star player. He was the MVP. Someone mentioned on the Kings board taking Murphy and Dunleavy. That is a trade I would make.

He's a very good player, but he can't carry a team by himself when the game is on the line (i.e. the Finals). An MVP can carry a team not just fill a stat sheet. I consider Shaq an MVP. Garnett an MVP. Iverson when he was healthy. He is the league's best small forward and I would take Peja anytime though if it was for Murphy/Dunleavy .
I'd agree with Warriorfansnc93 here. Peja played his best ball with Webber on the IR, so I definately wouldn't consider him a complimentary player. I'd love to have him on the Warriors. I'm very surprised that Kings fans like an Artest for Peja trade, I think the Kings would be getting robbed in that deal. Since the Kings fans seem to be looking for a defensive-minded sg, I proposed a Dunleavy and Pietrus trade for Peja on the Kings board, but no one has responded yet. If that deal were to go down, I'd definately want Peja to drop his player option for the third year of his contract. The more I think about this deal, the more I like it. Of course I'd hate to lose Pietrus and Dunleavy, but that's the price you'd have to pay to get a player like Peja. Pietrus is an Artest-type player, and Peja is the type of player most of us hope Dunleavy would turn into. I think whether Warrior fans like this deal or not depends on how good they think Dunleavy and Pietrus would become. All that being said, I think the odds of Peja getting traded anywhere have to be pretty slim. Still, if he's going to be traded, I'd prefer it be to the Warriors.

He's an allstar and possibly the league's best shooter, but I just wouldn't give up Jrich and trade a tough middleman for him. I just think it would be kind of detrimental to the team by trading away your team Captain and putting the conference's second toughest middleman in your own division and then end up with Dunleavy still. I guess as long as we still had Pietrus and he's made untouchable I'll be happy. Pietrus/Stojakavic could be good in a halfcourt set or uptempo style, more so than Jrich/Dunleavy. I guess its hard to argue with a guy that can give you 48% fg percentage almost perfect free throw percentage and score over 20 points a game on a consistent basis.... How about instead of Damp we trade Jrich/Dunleavy. Never was a fan of Dunleavy. Figured we might as well get rid of him, let Damp walk to the East. And then I'd be happy. But then again, it's always sad to see Jrich, one of the most exciting players in the game, get traded.
I would rather trade Jrich than Pietrus. And I love Jrich. I just think that Pietrus will end up being the league's best on the ball defender and that is more valuable than an 18-20ppg scorer, even if he is exciting with his flashy dunks. Pietrus will also IMO become a 18-20ppg scorer in this league anyways so why not keep him? I think a Dunleavy/Pietrus deal would haunt us forever if Dunleavy ends up like a Peja someday and Pietrus ends up like Artest. That would be hard to swallow.
You shoud never trade away a guy like Pietrus. This guy is going to be huge someday, probably earlier than anybody thinks. He's the most underrated rookie of the year imo.
Even people I know that aren't even warriors fans say Pietrus is going to be a stud. I guess in order to win you need that guy that's going to make an impact. If we get someone that can bring consistency and scoring and you put Pietrus out on the floor who can be the defensive stopper, we'll probably easily make the playoffs. If we don't have defense and we have tons of inconsistency on scoring we're heading for a 12th year out of the playoffs and get laughed at every year on ESPN until we do. On another note: I am so diehard when it comes to Jrich becoming the guy that explodes and turns into someone awesome, but I guess we can't be waiting forever.
