What is going on in the NBA this year. I have never remembered so many people demanding trades. It seems like absolutely no one is loyal to a team any longer, whether they are winning or not. With the recent addition of Peja to those who want to be traded it seems like the players are running teams rather than the team's staff.

I mean if the original team that the player was on decided it would be better for their team to trade the player where he doesnt want to go for a better package. does the player have any say so in whether or not he will or has too play on the new team.
Maybe some players are just really tired of losing. When you're a big star like Peja, you've gotta win a lot. He's won with Sac-Town in the past, but what every player in the NBA is searching for is that elusive championship ring. Maybe they're demanding trades so that they can be on a better team in order to win? Has anyone ever thought of that?
Well, seeing that Karl Malone and Gary Payton went to the Lakers to win a ring doesn't help. They got all the way to the Finals just by searching for that one team that could get there, and this is something Peja, Vince, McGrady, Francis, etc never have tasted in their career...but they see two future HOF'ers do it and almost succeed, so why not? That's what they are thinking, IMO.

I reallly don't think he is in search of a ring. McGrady is a little whiner who is tired of bring his team up. McGrady isnt a leader. Shaq was in the same situation as McGrady with a losing team and Shaq turned it around and took them to the Finals. McGrady has taken them to a ealry play off exit and the worst record in the leaugue. If MCgrady truly is the superstar people say he is he would've turned that team around IMO. If people are worrying about rings they would all go to a team together and take a pay cut. The Lakers had 2 super stars and 2 former super stars. So saying they had 4 hall of famers is true yet Malone and Payton werent playing at therir hall of fame peak. Only Shaq and Kobe were. When people say 4 super stars they're really exaggerating. Now if they had something like this. C-Shaq PF-Tim Duncan SF- George SG- Kobe PG- Kidd then people can say theyre 4 super stars. Malone got hurt and Paytno proved ineffective. Yao and T-Mac will go through the same thing as Shaq and Kobe. Both of their teams had little depth with 2 super stars. Yao and T-Mac will not bring even 1 title to Houston withouth another star.
IMO, only top players in certain situations can demand a trade. Jason Kidd for example - After everything the Nets have done (Kenyon Martin for the draft, Kittles, etc), he deserves to be traded to a team that can contend for a title. He's aging and cannot stay with the Nets and win a title there. If anyone deserves a trade, it's him. Shaq also had every right to demand a trade. After management put Kobe Bryant - A player who may never play the game of basketball again, ahead of Shaq he had every right to demand a trade. Shaq may be past his prime, but he's still very dominating and can still get the job done. Now that he's in Miami, the Heat are automatically considered title contenders. Granted, the Heat still need to add depth and the Pistons are still the better team, however, theres no doubting Shaq. Vince Carter demanding a trade? Pssh, lets see him work a little harder first in Toronto. Peja demanding a trade is a little off. The Kings haven't gotten anywhere with their core nor does it appear they will - However, I don't think Peja is good enough to demand a trade. He's strictly a pure shooter and he cannot create for himself. Tracy McGrady just needed better players around him.
If Shaq was worried that he'd be playing all by himself in Los Angeles (granted, like you said, Kobe may never play again), then he should've loved that opportunity. After all, he is the most dominant player in the NBA, right? Why would he want another star, when he can just do it all by himself? Haha. Maybe Shaq just wants the spotlight for a few more years, and he knows he's not taking it from Kobe anymore. The young kid is now rushing to hit his prime, while Shaq is reaching in the 90's to find his again. If I were Shaq, I'd do the same thing. I wouldn't wanna go out like Hakeem Olajuwon or Patrick Ewing...I'd be traded while I was still worth a pretty penny, and then play two more years as the so-called "dominant force" and then retire before Zhi Zhi Wang starts over me.
i think peja wants a trade because him and divac were really close and the kings werent able to sign him and they traded turgalo a nother good friend of his last off season

Players get traded all the time, and he needs to realize that the NBA is a business.
I'm liking all of these trades. It is going to be a COMPLETELY different year next season by the end of the summer. I want Vince Carter out of Toronto because I feel on a good team (if he's healthy) he can really be affective and top 15 in the league. Jason Kidd is a superstar and without knee problems he is the best point guard in the league. Any team that gets him is a contender. Peja will be good on any team and with his shooting he could help a lot of good teams become contenders. All of these demands are good in my mind because I like all of these players and want to see them in a different jersey next year. Hopefully a few more get traded too. It's good when things get mixed up a bit.
add Ray allen in that list, he has stated he would like to play for Toronto (hey, what do u know, a big name player who WANTS to play in T.O) <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> McGrady is a little whiner who is tired of bring his team up. It all comes down to certain players not wanting to really wait a couple years and try and turn a team around. Instead, they'd rather go to a place where they think that it's going to be easy to win a championship. However, we learned this year that things don't work that way. Very rarely will a player go somewhere he thinks that he will win an easy championship and succeed in winning one. Regardless, a lot of guys are demanding trades now thinking that they can jump on a team this year and contend immediately (i.e. McGrady, Malone is trying to do it, so is Vince Carter) I think in the end, this isn't going to be very good for the league. I know that a lot of people are thinking that all of this player movement is going to spark a lot more interest in the league, but I disagree. Sure, it may attract several new fans, but you have to keep in mind all of the fans that the NBA already had/has. I know that I am a bit disheartened with the fact that my favorite team - the Orlando Magic - is a completely new team. I mean, there are barely any of the same players on this team. It makes one wonder if every time a team loses that the fans are going to have to watch some of their favorite players get shipped off, demand trades, leave for other teams, etc. All I know is that I miss the days when a player would get drafted by a team, stick with that team for his whole career, and if they won championships in that city, it was icing on the cake. You don't really see that anymore.
I understand alot of these young players, and even some of the older ones (Shaq, Kidd) wanting to win now. But they have to realise that it takes time to build a team into a championship team. Obviously with the Lakers, there championship days are behind them and Shaq wanted more titles, and realised that as long as the Lakers made Kobe the man, he wasn't going to win another title with the Lakers. So he demands and get's traded to a team which he automatically turned in to a contender. In Denver, the Nuggets became a Western powerhouse after acquiring Kenyon Martin for a rediculous 3 future draft picks.
