Four weeks into the season, Doc Rivers was out in Orlando, and Bill Cartwright was gone in Chicago. By the end of January, there already had been five in-season coaching dismissals.

So, no, it is not too early to consider the leading candidates who soon might no longer be leading.

The coaches listed are also IMO on the hot seat. I do think Jeff Bzdelik is safe for now though..I think they will extend his contract if the Nuggets make a top 5 seed this year, which they should. I dont think Maurice Cheeks will be in Portland after this year and Donny is up with the Mavs within 2 years...

Not sure about Don Nelson either; what is his son going to stay in Dallas when hes gone? and if any owner had more say in the team's players and playing style of the team its Mark Cuban, so Don cant be all to blame

I agree with you but when things go wrong the coach is always the first to go..

Johnny Davis is probably the guy that is under fire the most. If he can't get the Magic winning seeing how they have so much more talent this year, he will be gone in a heartbeat.

Johnny Davis isn't coaching the magic this year is he? Didn't they find a new coach to replace him, or is he the new coach... I dont follow the Magic so I really wouldn't know.

Yeah I agree, if you look at his resume, the guy has one of the lowest winning percentage in the history of NBA coaches.

If Sam Mitchell can't pull a Terry Porter up north Toronto, I think he'll too be gone before the All Star break. The expectation for a former-player coach is high nowadays no matter that it's a rookie coach. Also, Eddie Jordan was brought in to turn the Wizards around into sth like the Nets, but so far they still look like well... the Wizards... and if this doesn't change, I expect the Wizards management to fire him fast.

Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni is also on the hot seat. This is simply because the team has reloaded with huge talent (Steve Nash and Quentin Richardson) to be added to a young core of Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion. Along with the expected improvement of C Maciej Lampe, they are IMO expected to be one of the top seven teams in the West. Anything less than that, the coach will be fired.
