Hudson could end up in Atlanta

    CHARLEY WALTERS

    Pioneer Press Columnist

Timberwolves free-agent point guard Troy Hudson could end up with the Atlanta Hawks this week if a contract with the Wolves can't be concluded.

Three weeks ago, Hudson and the Wolves said they thought they had a six-year contract agreement for $37 million, with $21 million guaranteed. Since then, there have been disagreements on both sides about language involving the amount of guarantees and injury protection, and the NBA wouldn't approve the deal unless some salary cap issues were clarified.

The Pioneer Press reported last week that Hudson is getting frustrated over the lack of progress. Atlanta is expected to offer Hudson a contract, and Seattle is interested, too. If a deal with the Wolves can't be reached within the next few days, look for Hudson to take his services elsewhere.

If Hudson ended up in Atlanta, I could actually see them making the playoffs. This roster is awesome, considering that it's the East -

    PG - Troy Hudson/Tony Delk/Royal Ivey
    SG - Josh Childress/Boris Diaw/Wesley Person/Donta Smith
    SF - Al Harrington/Josh Smith/Cris Crawford
    PF - Antwan Walker/Jason Collier
    C - Joel Pryzbilla/Zeljko Rebraca (?)

They would be a little weak at Center, but which Eastern team isn't? They could always make a run at Dampier, Swift, or Clark. Afterall, they have the largest amount of cap room left. They also have Wesley Person's large deal coming off the books next year. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Hawks would actually have a bright future.

Troy hudson and tony delk both three point assasins.

I cant even imagine how great it will be if troy hudson plays for us consistently as he did for the wolves during his breakout year.

    atl is coming up.

I really hope walker stays next year. and allow us to get some more free agent aquisitions.

Hudson would be a great addition if hes over his injuries...him and Walker would make a nice 1-2 combo and they would definitely be a nice team, tho I think they'd still fall short of the playoff race...
