I think this was a good move by the lakers. Obviously having the chance to get rid of fox was too good to pass up while losing payton as well. I think mihm will hopefully grow as a player after vlade retires in 2 years and become a dominant force. I think banks has potential but hes still a second year guard and needs more time. I don't expect the lakers to go real deep in the playoffs but I like the way they are making efforts to get younger and have a total makeover of the team.

depends how mihm and banks develop, both are projects. mihm looks overmatched at times and sometimes looks alright but he has yet to impress me in his 3 years in the league.

I think its a good trade for the Lakers because with Lamar and Kobe doing much of the ball handling, its good to have a more spot up type jump shooter playing along side them at the point guard in Chucky Atkins. Gary Payton needs the ball in his hands alot to make shots & plays, Iam not for sure that it would be available to him to do that in LA with Kobe & Lamar controlling the ball so much even if LA is no longer running the triangle. So keeping GP may have been running the risk of him getting disgruntal again with his role on the team.

The Lakers also add a youthful bigbody, which is never a bad thing. I think that Chris Mihm will be solid playing behind Vlade, who minutes will be limited due to age. And Marcus Banks has alot of upside. And he has always been a good on-ball defender. So the Lakers added 2 good on-ball defenders at the point imo with Banks & Atkins.

I like this trade from both sides it really has the potenial to benefit the C's as well. They needed some immediate help for PP, to take some off the playmaking load off him. And I think GP will do this. And I think he will gain back some off his own indiviual offensive skills that everyone said was lost due to his performance in the playoffs and finals. I think he will really help PP out on the perimeter.

Great deal for the Lakers. They now have one of the youngest yet potent teams in the league. This squad can run and marcus banks and chris mihm could really help this team if they mature enuff

I thought the lakers did very well with this trade...they got some depth in the frontcourt and two nice point guards, with Banks being the most intriguing and more potential...the Celtics got themselves a nice scoring aid for Pierce and a great penetrator in Payton...great trade for both teams, each got pieces that they desperately needed...
