``His veteran leadership on and off the floor was a large part of our success last year,'' said Joe Dumars, president of basketball operations. ``Darvin's athleticism and tenacity on the defensive end are two qualities that we like.''</div>

Darvin Ham can be pretty good if he gets playing time. He is a pretty good dunker as well. Thats why they call him "Dunkin Darvin".

Dumars bringing Ham back is purely down to his defensive game, he isn't a scorer but he brings energy and can defend the 3 and 4 the spot

Ham reportly turned down more money from New Orleans and Miami to re-sign for 1.6 million.

I like that salary. In the free agent market this summer, players have often been signed to contracts that are way over their actual values. Seeing Ham take that amount of money qualifies him as rightfully paid. He brings defensive intensity and now that Corliss Williamson is gone, he will play a much more integral role in the Pistons' system.

nice re-signing but I still see Darvin just getting the same amount of minutes, if not less, than he did last season...he wont really make an impact with the team on the floor except for very little spot minutes...

ahhh good old Darvin, If he's still the same, the only shot he can hit is a dunk. Except the time he hit a fade away 3 at the buzzer to face overtime.

Our radio announcer Ted Davis used to use the phrase "HamSlamwich on Rye"
