It was reported on FOX 26 in Houston that the Rockets have made Chicago an offer for Dikembe Mutombo that will include Eric Piatkowski, Mike Wilks and Adrian Griffin...I like this deal better than the proposed one that had them throwing in part of their trade exception plus Piatkowski...I cant see Chicago turning down this offer, so its very likely (atleast in my opinion) that Mutombo will be a Rocket by the end of the week, at the very latest...

Hmmm, I don't know about that. Pretty sure Chicago have 18 or 19 contracted players at the moment, so it would just expand to a ridiculous number if this trade went through.

Chicago needs big guards, and Griffin and Pike both have the size to play multiple positions. Trying to move Pike is a good step, but I'd rather we keep Griffin because he is a known defender and didn't get much of a chance to show himself last seasons due to injury.

First of all, i'd like to ask if this is for real or not. Next, I'm going to say I don't kno how good that trade is.. i mean mutumbo is known for his injuries and his age is starting to show on his game. Right now if that trade is true, you are losing 3 dependent players for someone that is injury prone. Adrian Griffin is a true defender even though his time in the game was limited due to injuries. Piatkowski is a great scorer and role player for the team.

I am a bulls fans and I take out my dislike of Kowski I am pretty happy if this trade goes down. Wilks would be waived by the team since they already have more guards then they need hell pargo and duhon are fighting for a roster spot.

Then Griffen will be a good vetern player something the team really needs to help bring the young guys together that was basically the reason for getting davis and williams (at the time) while trading rose. Then Kowski would be a big guard something the team needs a guy that could play either the three or 2 position. He is also a good shooter though a one dementional player a guy who shoots 40% from the arc is always a good thing to have.

    depenedent? do u mean dependable?

Griffin was injured all of last season.. so I don't know how you can call him "dependable" and compare him to "injury prone" Mutombo. And Wilks? He hasn't exaclty proven anything yet in the NBA though he might be a good player someday - what do the Rockets need a 4th PG for? Piatkowski rode the pine for most of last season after being injured. When he was healthy he was a liability defensively and JVG decided he'd rather play Jim Jackson and Cuttino Mobley 40+ mins a game instead. And I don't think the Rockets are in need of another scorer.

So it all boils down to.. Rockets trade 3 bench players, 2 of whom were injured last season and none of which played any meaningful minutes to fill a need - backup center. In return they get a former all-star, former defensive player of the year who can still block/alter shots inside and rebound well. Who cares if he's 38 or 39 or whatever age he is (no one really knows)? He'll likely be playing 10-15 minutes a game and I'm sure he's in good enough shape to be productive in those minutes.
