<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheHitman:</div><div class="quote_post">Well, I hope you Boston people wont get offended on what i am going to comment on Boston being voted the best sports city. First to start with the Boston Red Sox, they might be good and every single year gives their fans hopes to win a world series, yet to get their asses handed to the Yankees and its the saying "Theres always next year" for 86 straight years. I hate the Red Sox just cant stand them. Their fans need to learn to cheer for their team, besides cheering against the Yankees. And lol props to Aaron Boone for clutching it in Game 7 and props to A-Rod for saying F You to Varitek.... Celtics, no questions one of the greatest team ever, but that wont be enough to win them the best sports city.. so this is bias.</div> I'm sorry if I offend you, but I find this funny coming froma Philly fan, a city that hasn't won a championship in any sport since 1983 (but there's always next year, maybe the Eagles can win a big game for once), and are worse than NYC when it comes too booing their own players. Since when do Red Sox fans not cheer for the team, any Sox fan would rather see the Sox win than the Yankees lose, but I'm not going to say no to a Yankees loss. How is this biased? The Patriots just won the Superbowl, the Red Sox made the ALCS, the Bruins made the playoffs, so did the Celtics. Name some other cities where every single team made the playoffs?

So what's your point? He wasn't just trying to insult Boston. He is saying that they weren't deserving. You are trying to change the subject by insulting his city for no reason. He never claimed that Philly was more deserving, or even a good sports city. So why did you respond in that way BC?

He never said how Boston wasn't deserving, he basically said he hates the Red Sox, and didn't address why Boston doesn't deserve to be voted the best sports city. You still haven't backed up what you have said about other cities being better, and you haven't answered my question. Do you actually know from firsthand experience anything about any of the cities you listed. And you still don't mention anything about this article.

And yes I do have experience with many of those cities, but I will admit not all of them. You really expect me to look at an article where the writer came up with some random formula? What's funny is that Boston didn't even come first in that article . Way to prove your point . Besides, did you actually read what he said, or did u just look at the rankings? He said that they made changes so that cities with more teams wouldn't have an unfair advantage. That defeats the whole purpose of OUR (your and mine) argument, because best sports city has nothing to do with the number of teams. That article is really not good evidence, and I dont know how you could seriously post that nonsense.
Whooo Jurassic is pretty good... enough with the smileys You still have not said why <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LA, Ny, Dallas, Seattle</div> are better than Boston, and what you "know" about the fans. Quit getting off subject and support your argument.

I would have to go with New York just because it is the biggest media orginization for any sports franchise. I also like philly because we demand to succeed and do not accept faliure. Then chicago in the 90's was the greatest sports city. With Jordan and Da bulls. Though today if I had to list it I would put los angeles and New York over Boston for the greatest sports cities and have a tie in third between them and philly. Basically because LA and NY are huge media marketedfranchises who get bigger every year even when there losing not to mention the lakers have been successful in every decade and carried on the tradition while the celts have been in a slump.</div> Thats why I think that NY and LA are better than boston just because of the media market they are in I dont think how ever that seattle is better than boiston because the sonics have not even been in the playoffs the last two years the sea hawks lost in the wild card wrong and the mariners are not that great this year. Then I think he is saying that dallas is better because of the cowboys though I disagree because there success was a while ago they have not done much since. I think the patriots would more than match the cowboys and amke boston the better city. Also in bball the celts have 16 titles while the mavs lol dont have nearly as many.Anyway my rankings would be for top 5 sports cities. 1. Los Angeles 2. New York 3. Boston and Philly 4. Chicago (cause of the 90's) 5. Houston

If you did, Did you comprehend it? Nope!
Is there anything redeeming left in this thread worth keeping open? Can we close this thread and end this petty little episode? Nothing is being accomplished by this thread anymore, IMO. People have used this story as an opportunity to bash Boston fans and little more. Those commenting that they didn't agree, still could have said something like: "Congratulations to Boston. I don't agree, but maybe the city's I believe were better will win next year". Most didn't have the class or maturity to and that's a shame. Instead, they choose to call alot of the fans who would be responding to this thread by default anyways (this is the BOSTON forum ) to call them homers or biased because they couldn't possibly be responding positively because they also feel that way, but because we somehow have to defend our city and teams. Can we just close this and move on to something that has some redeeming value left?
I agree, JustBBall has a guideline to promote intelligent discussion. Let's move onto other subjects, because this one has been exhausted.
