The guy was a great rebounder during his time, but I hope he stays retired. Now its just a drag queen in uniform when I look at him

I'm not sure what he could bring to the table these days. sure he was great back in the day, but I think he would get embarassed by most solid offensive players. He certainly isnt in his prime any longer.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Seven-time NBA rebounding champion Dennis Rodman wants to make another comeback.

    Seriously.

"It has been two years going nuts, partying, and in the last four months I've lost 18 pounds and I am getting mentally prepared to return to the NBA," Rodman said Friday at a news conference. "This is no hoax, this is real. I want to perform like I did in those Chicago days." </div>

At 42 years old, 75% of all NBA players couldn't make a comeback. What makes Rodman the exception? He plays the kind of style of basketball that is the most physically demanding on your body, and he has a history with abusing his body. He was on the 'NBA Stars' team roster for the Southern California Summer Pro League this year when they faced the Memphis Grizzlies, but he didn't play. Does anyone else know if he played in any of the other games in that summer league?

He'd be a valuable asset to a contender such as Indiana, Houston, Minnesota or even Sacramento, but if he signs with a young team, I see him being a distraction...I have no doubt that he's kept himself in shape tho...

When a team sings a veteran they are looking for these things:
    1. Teach the young players
    2. Contribute with helping in the locker room or bench
    3. Contribute in playoffs with their playoff experience

Could you imagine Rodman teaching anyone? What would he teach them? How to party? What type of dye you use in your hair? I'm sorry but i would not want them on the Suns...or any other team.

He was great in his prime. But, i think he will only be a distraction.

^Well if players could take him seriously he could teach them about hard work ethic and doing all the little things that helps out your team big time. If I was a player I would look at him for what he did on the court and that he has 5 rings. I mean if a player wants to be successful and really help his team he will listen. But the obvious flip of the coin is his off court actions and those on the court action with the camera man and some other things. So the player would think that why is this fool that gets in way more trouble in a year then I did in my life try and school me on this game.

I beieve Rodman could still play 15-20 minutes a game for any team. The problem is I think all the distractions he would cause would out-weigh anything positive he could do on the court.

I think some team out there maybe the Bulls or New York will take a chance on Rodman and put him on the court 10-20 minutes a game...He may still have some stuff left in the tank...He would be a veteran to a team with playoffs experience...

I think he could be a great asset for anyone for the simple fact of finicial gain. He will bring fans to the game weather that is for a good or bad reason he is a great person to have as a person to be a basic shideshow.

Then he can give teams some rebounds a block and some good defense for the time he is on the court.

With the way some GMs are thinking (basic finicial). Some team wil pick him up.

Rodman will never be back in the NBA.
He's too old and has too many off-court issues..he tried to make it back last season, but instead ending up playing in some other league and not even doing much in that league.

This guy is a nut. 6 months ago, I read an article in which he said that he wanted to come back to the NBA so that his kids would have something to remember their father by when it came to his career. Something that wasn't such a sideshow. He made it seem like he wanted to come back to the NBA as an all-business kind of player and even mentioned a desire to teach the young guys.

But at this point, any NBA GM is going to ask themselves what he can really bring to the table. Sure, he might be able to teach the young guys some things, but the good probably wouldn't outweigh the bad. It's too late for him to comeback anyways in my opinion. Any team that signs him is just looking for easy publicity, nothing more.

I hope Dennis Rodman makes a comeback. He was a funny guy to watch. [IMG] Cursing the refs off. Partying instead of practicing. [IMG] Starting fights [IMG] He was a great interesting player to watch in NBA terms too. Arguably the best defensive player the game has ever know along with Bill Russell.

Dennis Rodman wasn't a bad player at all. Dennis Rodman has developed from a janitor who had never played organized basketball into arguably the best rebounding forward in NBA history and one of the most recognized athletes in the world. He was a two time Defensive Player of the Year and won five championships with two different teams: 2 with the Detroit Pistons and winning three other with the Chicago Bulls. Rodman has led the league in rebounding for seven consecutive years, and only Wilt Chamberlain was better with eleven. In his junior college in Texas, Dennis averaged 25.7 points and 15.7 rebounds, led the NAIA in rebounding twice and had over a 63% field goal percentage. When he got to the NBA, he didn't score very much but his rebounds were one of the best in NBA history. In Rodman's rookie season, his numbers were very small, but when he got in his prime, during the 1991-92 season, he averaged almost 19 rebounds per game.

Rodman wasn't a bad player, it was just the clubbing is where he spent his money the most. But a player is a player, and this one was just great. Some say he should go in the Hall Of Fame like me, others say he shouldn't.

I do think that he should go to the Hall of Fame...But the HOF is for retired players. He knows he will never be able to get rid of his past, why try? I loved watching him play before, but I doubt I would want to see him play now.

Was he all that controversal before the hair color change? I don't remember hearing about him being in all kinds of trouble before the tatoos and hair. Wasn't he doing the same things in Detroit as far as clubbing? Questions I just thought about. During the days where he was not only averaging far beyond double digit rebounds, but even 11.1 ppg.

If he does make it to the NBA which I wouldn't mind seeing. He hasn't had a drink in long time right? So I honestly believe he won't be as much as a distraction as most other people feel.

Just curious. Does anyone know how Rodman's finances are? Because everytime I hear about him thinking about another comeback, I immediately think he is just needing more money. Kind of like Mike Tyson's 2 year plan to do a bunch of fights so he can basically be able to break even.

I would like to see him come back in the league with his beastly hair. he could intimidate some ppl because how tough he is, i think he would do ok, he can probably still rebound pretty well.
