yes, i know everyone is going crazy about mutumbo atm, but cleveland have just waived steven hunter (check out the nba transactions website). just thought id mention that.
Yeah I'd rather have Mutombo than Hunter any day of the week, although I would like Hunter here if the Mutombo deal somehow falls apart...
I wouldn't want Steven Hunter. He has been a huge disappointment ever since he got into the league. He is too thin right now to bang in the West and can only serve as a shotblocker. If the Mutombo deal falls apart, I'd rather see us making a run at Vin Baker and Keon Clark in the free agent market.
Hunter isnt anything more than a 3rd string C right now. Mutombo and Clark would be great backups. Keon's injuries and attitude could become a problem though.
im still a fan of the mutombo deal. who isn't? but its always good to keep your options open incase of disaster... hey is it true that we used our MLE on sura and ward? if so, then that sux.. i read this on insidehoops.com
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Acquiring a backup center is their top priority now. There are lots of names floating around out there, and I'm not sure who they're most comfortable with. Scott Williams is a name I've heard associated with the Rockets, but I don't think he's their first choice. I have a feeling it'll happen rather quickly.</div> Well, we are also looking at Scott Williams, who is not bad for a backup. It's good to know that we are in fact trying to land someone.
My top three backups available would probably be: 1)Dikembe Mutumbo, theres rumors of him for Piatwoski(sp?) 2)Keon Clark, he is available but I think he was on the IR 3)Scott Williams, a really good back up and shouldnt cost too much. Steven Hunter, I really feel sorry for him and Jerryl Sasser the Magic really messed those two up. Hunter could've been a great player if given the chance but the magic really screwed him. He has a slight possibility of being good but those three are better choices.
