Rumor: Pollard & 2nd Rounder for Wagner and Newble This was posted on another board earlier, and I haven't noticed it over here. Talk are happening with Indiana about Scot Pollard. Apparently this is pending what Indy do with Dampier as they are active in chasing him. The deal for us is rumoured to be Pollard and 2nd rounder for Wagner and Newble. Positives : if we see the Sacramento Pollard, we have a great fit behind Z. An active rebounder and shot blocker, who can chip in a couple of points. We finalise our front court roster. Also we no longer have the 4 remaining years of Newble's contract. Wagner, who noone knows where he fits is no longer a concern. Diop out of the rotation cannot be a bad thing. Negatives : Pollard was a bust for Indiana. Will this continue. All of a sudden we are a tad thin in the backcourt. Sasha and Jackson would immediately be thrusted into big rolls, which they may not be quite ready for. Possible moves around this trade could be to grab a veteran perimeter player. Players such as Jon Barry, Wesley Person and Dion Glover are available. All could assist our depth chart, and not throw too much pressure on our you new boys.
This probably wouldn't work out for Cleveland, just like you said, because there wouldn't be enough SF's on the roster. They could re-sign Lee Nailon, which would give them a sometimes-OK-back-court player, but they probably won't. I wouldn't pursue this deal anymore if I was the Cav's main man.
Id like to think we could get more for Wags and Newb. Scot was a good backup in Sac but he was bad in Ind. We dont know how good Scot would be for us. He could be one of the best backups in the league like he was in Sac or he could play poorly like he did in Ind. Change the second round pick to a first rounder and I would consider this trade.

Also we know he is a defensive liablity. So even tho he is still young and has alot of potenial upside, he is the type of player alot of teams are shying away from. Newble is a good defender but he isnt going to bring much to the table on the other end of the floor. So yeah you should be able to get more than Scot Pollard but not much more. But if it came down to it, and Cleveland is really in needed of a bigman and really wanting to get rid of Wags due to their guard overload of Snow, Mcginnis, Wags, then I can see them pulling the trigger on this deal. Pollard is still has sometime to prove that it was more or less him not fitting into the Pacers system then anything else. The Pacers already had a player like Pollard in their rotation in Jeff Foster. So they needed Austin Croshere who could provide a little offense in their rotation, so Pollard's game and attributes being similar to that of foster, he ended up being the odd man out over the long hall. But I think Pollard can still provide some effort and rebounds in the right situation.
I think Cleveland can do a lot better than just getting Pollard...Indiana would be robbin em blind if they pulled off this deal...Pollard is just a glorified scrub...
I don't like this trade at all. Hands down, Pollard (to me) is a bum. Newble is our only player on the roster that defends well on the perimeter. Sash and Jax aren't proven defenders and are only known for their offense and athletisim. And don't get me going on Wagner, we all have been yappin our gums off about that kid. I guess Silas is really tired of Diop's inconsistancy and his lack of improvement. Isn't there ANY OTHER big man out there that we can get our hands on?
The fact is, the stocks at center are damn thin. Really no quality about. Cleveland know there are not too many teams who want their "tradables". So there will never be an "equal talent" trade when it involves getting a big man for our yet proven (Wagner) and bad contract (Newble). When you spell it out like that, the deal isn't that bad. This is of course Pollard finds some of that form from his days in Sactown.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting DrFeelgood:</div><div class="quote_post">Yes, take Pollard!!! How about Luke Jackson for Pollard??</div> Ok then. We'll give you Jackson for Pollard, but can you throw in Artest, and we'll pass over our defensive specialist Ira Newble. Done deal.
Some sought of Luke Jackson for Ron Artest deal is perfect for both teams. The Cavs need defense and get the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in Ronny, while Larry Bird gets the player he's in love with in Luke Jackson. Perfect trade .
