What do you guys think will be the starting lineup foir the Hornets this season? I think they need to try some new young players because the roster is getting old! Starters: PG: Baron Davis SG: David Wesley SF:J.R Smith PF: David West (I would like to see him start. PJ's getting old.) C: Jamaal Magloire Also what happened to the signing Morris Peterson have the Raps matched???
PG-Davis SG-David Wesley SF-Mashburn PF-PJ Brown C-Magloire Personally, I don't think JR Smith is ready to start yet. He came straight out of high school and lacks the outside shooting to become an efficient shooting guard or small forward. I think David Wesley will continue to hold the starting spot and it will be a year or two before Smith gets proper playing time.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">PG -- B. Diddy SG -- J.R. Smith SF -- Mashburn PF -- PJ Brown C -- Magloire</div> Why would they not start Wesley at the 2?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post">Why would they not start Wesley at the 2?</div> I think the reason shapcity put Wesley on the bench was because the Hornets are now in the East, and a backcourt of two point guards does give worries. However, I think the Hornets will be forced to start Wesley because Smith is certainly not ready to start.
I would love to see the Hornets give JR Smith a shot right away...Who knows he may be the next Lebron (ok thats streaching it) but he can have an impact...I would like to see their lineup like this: PG: Baron Davis (duh!) SG: JR Smith SF: Mashburn (even though he is injury prone) PF: PJ Brown C: Jamaal Maglorie Before Mashburn comes back from his injury it will look like this: PG: Davis SG: Wesley SF: JR Smith PF: PJ Brown C: Maglorie Half way through the year I think the Hornets will give West a chance to start...
I don't think they should put the pressure of starting on J.R smith just yet. I think they should try and let him come along slowly, then if he proves he's ready, then start. Any how here's how i think it'll go: PG:Baron Davis SG: David Wesley (Maybe J.R Smith later in the year, MAYBE) SF:Jamal Mashburn PF: PJ Brown (Maybe David West, depending on how he plays) C: Jamaal Magloire
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post">Why would they not start Wesley at the 2?</div> The Hornets are now in the West, and Wesley is undersized for a shooting guard. He has been on a decline, while Smith continues to impress the coaches. I think Smith will match up better against the West Coast guards, with his size and athleticism. I doubt he starts, but I think giving him experience as the starter and having Wesley come off the bench to be an offensive spark makes more sense for the Hornets. The knock on Smith is his low basketball IQ, but the best way for him to learn, is to give him minutes and build his confidence. Making him a starter accomplishes both. Divisional Match Ups Dallas - Michael Finley 6'7 Houston - T-mac 6'8 Memphis - Miller 6'8 / Bonzi 6'5 San Antonio - Gino 6'6 / Barry 6'6 I just don't see Wesley being able to guard any of these players at 6'1.

I remember watching last year's high school all-star game and he was bombing threes from way outside like crazy... is he just a streaky shooter then? Cause I really thought he was a good shooter and I was looking forward to seeing someone who could actually shoot coming out of HS... oh yeah my starting lineup prediction is the same as Shape's. PG: Baron Davis SG: J.R. Smith SF: Jamal Mashburn PF: P.J. Brown C: Jamaal Magloire However I agree with what someone else also said earlier: I think Wesley will be the starter for the beginning of the season, but I think they will have to bench him because of his lack of size. Not necessarily because he is now in the west, but he is getting older and I just don't think he is effective enough to be in the game that long because he is a defensive liability.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I may remember this wrong, but I thought he was a good shooter?</div>To say the truth, I'm not really sure to, but I did remember hearing that he was a bad shooter. Maybe the guy I heard about was Josh Smith.
PG - Baron Davis SG - David Wesley SF - Who knows? Maybe JR PF - P.J. Brown C - Jamal Magloire J.R. Smih won't start over David Wesley, and I'm still not sure the situation with Mashburn, but if he isn't back, and the Hornets can get another SF, J.R. will liekyle be coming off the bench. I also ecpect a lot for David West, he's a pretty good player, and I have hopes for him. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">To say the truth, I'm not really sure to, but I did remember hearing that he was a bad shooter. Josh Smith was just a decent shooter, and showed some range, but was very very inconsistent.
JR Smith is the man!! Ok now thats out, seeing as how I'm a big JR fan I say he should start right away, and like someone mentioned all the SG's in the division are big really big and JR is much bigger than David Wesley. Jamal Mashburn should retire and he said thats very likely, his knees or whatever is bothering him (I Forgot tell me if it his knees) isnt gonna let him play much and he said in an article he wants to be able to walk by the time he's 40 so if its that bad he should retire thats why I have PJ down the the 3 slot. Hornets Starting Line: PG-Baron Davis SG-JR Smith SF-PJ Brown PF-Chris Anderson C-Jamaal Magloire

I think that they will probably have B.Diddy going against the sgs on defense (with the exception of Tmac, because that would tire him out and ruin his offensive ability). That way Wesley would be guarding the following: Dallas - Jason Terry Houston - Tyron Lue Memphis - Jason Williams San Antonio - Tony Parker Either way, the Hornets will not even be a top 4-seed threat in the west.

Pretty sure he'll be playing the 3 and Jim Jackson (he'll be able to post up smaller guards) will be playing the 2. Either way, it's a matchup problem for the Hornets.
Hey guys, remember George Lynch? He's still on the team. Hopefully, this will be New Orleans' lineup. PG - Baron Davis SG - J.R. Smith (Wesley in the beginning of the season) SF - Jamal Mashburn PF - PJ Brown C - Jamaal Magloire If Mashburn doesn't return... PG - Baron Davis SG - J.R. Smith SF - George Lynch PF - PJ Brown C - Jamaal Magloire But who can really tell with the Mashburn stituation? Anyway about George Lynch, he's been the starter for the Hornets whenever Mashburn has been out (which is a lot). The Hornets could really use Lynch's defense in the West. However, without Mashburn, it doesn't look like the Hornets have enough firepower to keep up with Western Conference teams.

Especially since he'll be playing with the same pg as before.
