They'll keep Christie. He can play the 1, 2 and 3, and has better court vision. He has a better mentality on the offensive end, and he can make shots with consistantcy...I don't see him goign anywhere.
well the trade is off...at least for today: From the Kingsfans.com, where MK got the original rumor (From ESPN Radio) Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just got it from a reliable source at Kings HQ that no trade has occurred, and beyond that, Petrie has no intention of trading Peja. The source said: "Unless Joe Maloof has turned into Mark Cuban and is making trades on
Now hopefully, if this is true, the Pacers will be willing to trade Bender to get Damp. Also I think Peja is underrated defensively because he is a Euro, he made two game saving plays last year in the playoffs against Dallas, and the Kings as a whole were a weak Defensive team and so he was exposed even more. It's a good deal for both teams, and hopefully helps the Warriors get something for Damp.
I dont belive this trade went down cause the Maloof brothers said that Peja is the last person they would think about trading. Plus how could Larry Bird give up the best deffender in the league in Ron Artest for Peja granted Peja is a great shooter BUT Ron Artest is gettin better as a shooter so honestly i dont belive this trade went down but if it did im shocked.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Map1986:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN Sports Radio is reporting Peja Stojakovic has been traded to the Pacers for Ron Artest and rookie James Jones. I got this from KingsFans.com so take it for what it worth (since I don't have ESPN SR).</div> yeah, but it did't happen. Pacers need to keep Artest!!
Peja could be a decent defender, dont forget that Stephen Jax will be starting over Reggie. The Pacers could also land Dampier. THats a tough tough team right there. Jamal Tinsley Stephen Jackson Peja Stojakavic Jermaine Dampier thats a fat lineup if they can get everything together
This isn't true. On an article at NBA.com, Larry Bird denies talking to the Kings about Peja. It isn't happening.
It hasn't been confirmed on NBA.com yet. I'm not sure if this was a good move for either teams. I mean the Pacers now become a much weaker team on the defensive with the loss of Artest. And the King lose there biggest offensive sparkplug along with Bobby Jackson. But hey maybe they saw something in this trade that I didn't. http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/bird_stojakovic_040809.html There it says Bird says nothings going on.
Not yet.. http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/bird_stojakovic_040809.html <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Though the Ron Artest-Peja Stojakovic trade rumor has taken on a life of its own, Larry Bird would just as soon see it put to rest. The team President said Monday that "nothing's going on" between his Pacers and the Sacramento Kings.</div>
i repeat well the trade is off...at least for today: From the Kingsfans.com, where MK got the original rumor (From ESPN Radio) Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just got it from a reliable source at Kings HQ that no trade has occurred, and beyond that, Petrie has no intention of trading Peja. Omg the Kings ripped the Pacers off big time. Artest is worth much more than Peja. You don't trade a defensive player of the year away for a overrated player like Peja. This trade highly helps the Kings since they need defense, but the Pacers were much better off with Artest. I must say they are not winning 60 games this year. LArry Bird only did this because he wants a good white player on his team. I remember an article or something that he wants a white super star in the league. The Pacers are total dumbasses for this trade. IF Larry Bird manically decides to buil the team around Peja in stead of O Neal the Pacers are ruinned. Ill bet any thing Pejas first game as a Pacer will be hell for him. They need to find an offensive play similar to the Kins if they hope to have Peja effective. Peja got open looks in Sacremento because of the offense. Bye Bye to your best years Peja! Peja is also the most overratd player who is still in the league. I cant believe the Pacers did this. Artest has 80% the offense Peja has Artest has 300% the defense Peja has. If you watch thier games you'll know trust me. The Kings raped the Pacers badly. O well now The Heat are the second best team in the East which is good for me. Yay!
***Moved To Rumor Mill*** This trade hasn't been confirmed by any sources. In fact, Bird even denies it. As for this thread, I urge you all to read the posts before you. THREE people posted the same exact article on Bird saying that it wasn't going to happen, and even after that some people kept talking as if it were a done deal.
wow Peja isnt overated at all. When webber was out, who else was gonna carry the offense besides peja, He constantly was double teammed and still put up 24 ppg. And Peja would get really good defensivly under rick carlisle so the defensive point would be fine. To the kings side, Webber has said he wants a Defensive minded 3 and since webber will be a king alot longer then peja i think the maloofs would listen to him
didn't i already post that same link on the first page, or was my post deleted, pacers.com declined the rumor, and said not trade was made.
Ron Artest's style is so different from the Kings. He's gotta bring some fresh air, and maybe a chemical reaction.
IF this trade is true it's really pretty good for both teams. Both guys had burned bridges and Artest has to get out of the same division/conference as Rip Hamilton. Rip owned his ass in the playoffs. I think Artest is overrated defensively, actually. If referees allow him to cover up his lack of footspeed with lots of grabbing and bullying, yeah, he's great. And he can get into a guy's head because he's so physical (in my opinion that's not basketball, but I'll save it for another place, another time) but his actual ability to stay in front of somebody (legally) leaves a little to be desired. Plus, he's a complete moron on the offensive end. He creates for no one but himself and is constantly taking shots that disrupt the flow of his team's offense. I don't like him but he will give the Kings some real toughness at SF, and they will still keep Christie because Artest and Christie really guard two different types of player. As for Peja, he won't be guarding any of the perimeter players that were listed above, he's a 6-9/6-10 European for God's sake. Plus, it seems that some of the posters here have forgotten that the NBA decided to allow zones a couple of years ago. Good move by both squads (if it's true) and it does make sense.
