<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Unless an agent messes up the deal, look for free agent Tom Gugliotta to return to the Timberwolves this season.

Gugliotta, 34, was paid $9 million last season, when he averaged 2.9 points and 14.9 minutes in 55 games with the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz. But the 6-foot-10 forward would cost the Timberwolves just the minimum NBA salary for veterans, approximately $600,000, and the league would pay about $400,000 as part of a one-year contract worth about $1 million.

Gugliotta told the Pioneer Press late last season that probably the biggest mistake he made during his 12-year NBA career was leaving the Timberwolves via free agency for Phoenix six years ago. During his final season (1997-98) in Minnesota, he averaged 20.1 points and 38.5 minutes a game.

Gugliotta recently told Wolves vice president Kevin McHale that he would like to return to Minnesota this season and would be eager to help in any way possible. McHale asked team owner Glen Taylor, who always has liked Gugliotta, and Taylor granted approval. Now it appears to be just a matter of signing a contract.</div>

I dont think it will hurt the wolves it can only help. At the vetern minimum he will be a bargen. He is still got some game left in him, but with his minutes getting cut down in phoenix with the youth movement taking place with the exception of steve nash who is 30 a vetern is hard pressed to get many minutes in that lineup as johnson, amare, the matrix, and Q are all well under 30 years old.

He will give them another vetern leader in the locker room and could be good for ebi. Now going back to ebi this may be bad for him because it adds further depth at the forward spot pushing him further back for minutes. I know mchale said he wouldnt play much but he may have had at least 20 minutes a game if not for this guy being signed.

Hopefully it works out it is always good to have a solid vetern on your team when you dont have to spend alot of cash on him its great. Now hopefully they can still make a trade to get thomas or shareef that would make them the unquestioned favorites for the title.

Sorry about this post, but I have to say it. Guess a agent messed up this deal. The wolves lost a good vetern and one of the few players that if they signed would have helped upgrade there team, but after making it to the western confeence finals and only losing because of cassel's back spasms we still good.
