While Suns forward Amar? Stoudemire is confident he and his 2004 Olympic teammates will come home from Athens with basketball's gold medal in the coming weeks, he said that 2008 has the potential to return to the dominance that has not been seen since the original Dream Team in 1992, reports HoustonChronicle.com.

"When we're in our prime, then the original dream team will reemerge," Stoudemire said. "With myself, LeBron, Carmelo and Dwyane -- I tell you, we're going to be extremely great basketball players. The Jordan, Magic and Bird era will pretty much be back."

Exert from an article at Suns.com. I agree with Amare in four years these four players could possibly be the best players in the game (my opinion). These guys are all great players now and in four years... wow! I can't imagine how good the Dream Team could be. I don't think they would be up to par with the original though.

I see this as complete B.S. There is no way LeBron James will reach his prime in 4 years. And quite possibly neither will Wade or Anthony, play at their peak of their career in such a short period of time. It?s most likely that they will reach their prime in another 6-7 years or so.

4 years is a long time for them to develop. Especially since they are the main options on their teams. If each of them stays healthy, the key, they can be great players. Now...To get to the Jordan, Bird, and Magic status they really have to play well.
Look at the 80's players stats and you will see its not going to be easy to match.
Bird had a career shooting percentage over 50%...thats nice. I believe jordan and magic did also.

Now...look at todays NBA players...almost no one averages at this lvl. That is sad.....

Hopefully these new players can learn that you need to spend ALOT of time shooting...to get good at shooting. Go figure?

Them playing like All-Star doesn?t distinguish them from playing at their prime. So what if they're already playing like All-Star, they?re just going to get better down the road, and I honestly don't see them playing at their prime in another 4 years. That?s way too short.

Maybe Amare was wrong is saying they will be at their prime in four years. But, they will be vastly improved players by then and if these guys are somehow vastly improved in four years then I beleive we could see the four best players in the league and an unbeatbale team USA.

    2008 Dream Team:

    PG-Wade
    SG-Bron
    SF-Melo
    PF-Amare or Dwight Howard
C-Jermaine or mabey Emeka Okafor or Greg Oden?

Pretty nice lineup. I can see it turning out this way. Though KG and TD will still be 32 and may still be able to start on the team. It's not better than the 92 team though.
