<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Detroit Pistons re-signed veteran guard Lindsey Hunter on Friday. The 33-year-old Hunter returned to Detroit last season after helping the Los Angeles Lakers win the 2002-03 NBA title. He played 33 regular-season games and averaged 3.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 20 minutes. In 23 playoff games, Hunter averaged 2.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 11.9 minutes as the Pistons beat the Lakers in the NBA Finals. Hunter was Detroit's first pick, 10th overall, in the 1993 draft. He spent his first seven seasons with the Pistons, followed by one season each with Milwaukee, the Lakers and Toronto.</div> <div align="center">Link</div>
Nothing surprising, this re-signing has been promised throughout the offseason. Hunter is a great change-of-tempo player and has been a must-keep ever since Mike James left Detroit. However, I have doubts about his health and his knee has been acting up the past two seasons and it's very likely he'll miss some of next season too.

And with all that age he's carrying on his shoulder, I believe he is going to break down mid-way through the season. With the loss of Mike James, he may have to carry a little more of the load off the bench. Maybe, Larry Brown should change his rotation up a bit, therefore it would be easier on Lindsey Hunter part, but I doubt LB would do that. Well, we will just have to wait and see how he looks on the court because I honestly believe that next season may be his last.
Hunter will not break down, the guy keeps himself in such good shape he makes sure It never happens. His average minutes per game last year was 20, It's hard to break down when you play limited back-up minutes. Lindsey has lost his scoring touch but he is still a very good defender, that won't change. Pistons don't need him to score, It's his on the ball defense thats important. I'm sure Delfino could play some back-up minutes at the point If needed.
We still need another point guard. It was great that we had the luxury of MIke James last yaer, because it allowed Hunter to hide his weakness's. Hunter cant be our primary point off the bench. He just cant.
Gotta agree with you there. Hunter seems absolutely clueless on offense. He is quite possibly the worst point guard on the fast break in the league.. The Pistons' offense is pretty dismal as a general rule too, and Hunter does nothing to alleviate that (he's a subpar playmaker and not much of a shooter).. Personally I wouldn't have re-signed him, but given the fairly thin crop of available PG's, I guess this is the easy way to go about it..
Wow, can't believe all the Hunter haters. I thought you guys wanted him to stay in Detroit after the first time they got traded him. I thought there would always be room for a player with a good attitude who can hit jump shots. He's always smiling and its obvious he loves to play the game. An attitude like that is contagious. He's not as quick as he used to be but he's still friggin fast.
Hunter is a solid vet,and should give the Pistons solid production off the bench,he is a three point threat,he can defend and he will run the floor. But I do agree the pistons need another PG,if HUnter got a season ending injury...wouldnt Billups be their only true PG.They should sign a another vet PG who could run the offense and wont worry about getting his, maybe someone like Mark Jackson would help them off the bench.
It remains how good he can produce but Horace Jenkins will likely be the 3rd choice point guard on the team. It's one of those, wait and see type players. I'm sure though he can handle the ball well enough to hold down the forth while Billups needs rest.
