The C's announced today that the Gary Payton trade was amended. We now get Banks back and send them Jermaine Jones...we also keep our second round pick...read it here................ http://www.nba.com/celtics/
Good news, This could have a big influence on Marcus Banks career. Gary Payton can make him into a awesome player, and lead him in the right direction. BTW its not Jermaine Jones its Jumaine Jones.

Marcus Banks was the brightest spot in this deal for the Lakers...the last thing they need is another swingman. Why would this happen if the Lakers already introduced Marcus Banks?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Banks:</div><div class="quote_post">Marcus Banks was the brightest spot in this deal for the Lakers...the last thing they need is another swingman. Jones never really played much with all the swingmen we have, and I think the nucleus of pg's we have...Payton, Banks, West, Allen...is great. A lot of depth and some players who could really develop into great things.
It was ammended because Payton refused to come and take a physical. By not making him pass a physical then the Celtics are essential waiving the right to void it, so they asked for more in return...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Banks:</div><div class="quote_post">Marcus Banks was the brightest spot in this deal for the Lakers...the last thing they need is another swingman. He's a phenomenal athlete but I think it's obvious that there aren't very many people that feel he's a true NBA point guard. Either that or he's got some serious off-court issues.
great move by Boston...Banks is a key part of the future and now the deal doesnt look half as bad...what was LA thinking?

He isn't a great shooter and he has terrible court vision. I think Bill Simmons was correct with his Robert Pack comparisons. I would rather have Jones on this team, over Banks. I think Jones is a decent player who knows what he is capable of, and that's what he does. He is a good defender and can hang on the boards. He also is a pretty good shooter, and has a great arching shot that he can shoot over anybody. Jumaine has no problem playing limited minutes, and he actually has a good locker room presence. I'm upset about this because I think it is going to affect the development of Delonte West. I hope West will see more minutes than Banks this year. IMO, West will end up being twice the player Banks ends up being.
I have no idea what LA is thinking. Never heard about this happening after a player gets introduced to the media. Puts Banks in a funny situation, especially after this article - http://celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/vi...articleid=39190. I got no complaints either though. Trading Banks was a gamble. C's recently have a bad history of giving up on young players with prospects (Joe Johnson come to mind, Billups another), something Ainge promised he wouldn't do. Yeah, Banks played like s**t in the summer league, but he could end up a player in this league, especially with someone like Payton showing him the ropes. Jones never fit in with the Cs, and we definitely don't need him. W/o Banks, once Payton left at the end of next season, that would have only left West, who was a 2 in college, running our point. Kupchak is a moron. But hey, that means the Lakers are going to be even worse, which means the draft pick they owe us will be worth more. Just hope Ainge has the patience to hold it over a few years.

I hear West has adapted nicely to running the point so far. His GAME is nice, as opposed to just being an athlete, like Banks. Plus, West is a pretty good athlete too.
wow. Well jumaine has alittle history with the lakes when the sixers went to the finals he got a taste of shaq and kobe which peobally gave him memories and want for more in his career. Now he has a chance to be a part of part of the team that put his sixers in the dirt. must be a reel good feeling for jones and co. that has made the new lakers roster.

These agents and team presidents have to lay off the crack while doing these trades up. WOW
I feel sorry for banks. That must sux leaving his team then going to a new team then he has to go back to the old team. But its kinda funny though.
At least Banks didn't put his foot in his mouth like Danny Fortson when he was traded. Remember: "I'm glad to get out of there. The team is a sinking ship." Only to be back on the C's when Alvin Williams failed a physical.
Payton, on the other hand, told the Press-Enterprise that he was willing to forfeit the final $5.4 million. ``I don't care about that,'' Payton said. ``If it goes down, I'll quit. I can go on and do something else. ``I wasn't going to Boston to take a physical. I ain't going to move my family no more. I can't take my family to Boston. It ain't no disrespect to Boston.'' One aspect is clear, however. Payton is furious with the Lakers. ``They used me so they could get other players,'' he said. ``Boston is going to lose out on this. They ain't going to get nothing.'' http://celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/vi...articleid=39989
