<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This probably isn't what you want to hear after sloshing through the neighborhood in search of your windblown, woebegone gas grill and while still waiting for the crew to show up to get the oak tree out of your dining room, but prepare yourself: The Magic might be moving to Kansas City. Or at least that's what Kansas City hopes. We have what Kansas City wants most (an NBA team), and Kansas City soon will have what the Magic want most -- a new state-of-the-art arena with all the money-making luxury suites and amenities that come with it. "Why wouldn't we be interested in the Magic?" Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes told me earlier this week. "We're interested in a courtship with any team who's interested in us. We need an anchor tenant for our new building." That new building -- a 20,000-seat, $250 million beauty that will be the centerpiece of a new downtown entertainment and convention district -- just was approved by the voters of Kansas City. It is scheduled to open in 2007 and already has a corporate title sponsor and, thus, a name: The Sprint Center.</div> <div align="center">Link</div>
O hell no... the kansas city magic!?!?!?! Man I hope that doesnt happen it would be horrible to see them move from orlando. If they want a new arena why not just request one from the city of orlando. It cost money, but the lost money in the move would also cost them money.
First off i need to know who wrote this excatly, and in my opinion this is why i hate the NBA. They try to move any team that has a bad record the year b4 or that hasnt producing ticket sales the past 2 years, i mean the moved the hornets and look at them now, the city of new orleans barely goes the games and the nba cant move them again because that would make them look bad so they make new franchise in the old city of the hornets. Even with memphis, the only real reason fans kept going to the games there is because they actually started playing good. This is why the MLB and NFL handle their leagues so much better. The nba is money crazy and cant stand to have one losing quarter, they are to impatient those other sport leagues wait it out and end up succeding except for the expos. All in all im a die hard magic fan and if this happened i would probably stop watching the nba.
This is nothing new, Ice posted something about this awhile back and it pretty much says the same thing - leading me to believe that this is nothing more than speculation. (Link to the other article) Something makes me think that the Magic are going to be in Orlando for quite some time, whether or not we build a new arena here. The arena in KC isn't that much bigger than the TD Waterhouse Centre, and as time goes on, I think that the residents of Orlando are going to realize that a new arena might be a good thing for this town.

I personally cannot see the Kansas City Magic, but htey did have the KC Royals, so I would understand their desire for another basketball team.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting nkwu:</div><div class="quote_post">Most of the time it is the owners</div> Very true. I was watching this report a while back on Cold Pizza about the most tortured sports cities in america and that day they were talking about San Diago and they talked about how it was obvious that eventually Sterling was gona move the clippers out of there to los angeles just because of the type of person he was and business he ran. They commented this because they asked the guy which lose was worse losing the clippers or the rockets and he responded with that answer.
yea its both the owners and the league, the owners of the magic do not want to relocate unless its to tampa bay which has already been expressed... anways the league has to approve of the relocation of the team so i mean its just currupt how the nba works
Thanks explosive..I tought I heard this same article before lol ..with our new team? at least not this upcoming season
oh man that would suck, i could see it happening though, the magic have no fans that come to games so it could become a reality.
I'd have to start liking the Heat.. Oh darn. But the "Kanzas Magic" just doesn't sound right to me. We got Disney World... All Kanzass got is cows.
I read a story on hoophype.com a few dys ago. The Knsas City Magic rumors are completely false. The Magic have shown no intrest in moving to Knsas so thank god we wont have to listen to anyone in the nba say welcome to the kansas city magic vs _____.
Look on the bright side, we could name our new team (b/c we would get another) something that represents our great city better than a reference to 'the mouse kingdom'. -jk
