I LOVE WALTAH!!! Like any good Boston faithful. It's great to see the Celtics loaded with so much talent, but I'm seriously concerned that all these players will leave Waltah the odd man out in the rotation. Last season, he played most of his minutes between the 3-4. Now, we have Jefferson and Raef firmly implanted at the 4, and are overloaded with wing players. Luckily, Waltah's such a diverse player that he can fill in anywhere if there are injuries, etc., but I do wonder what's in store for him. I'd hate to see him spend the whole season on the bench, then sign with another team next summer when his contract runs out.....

Last year he got destroyed on the boards. When he played 10-15 mpg, his flaws weren't as noticable and everybody loved Waltah, but the more he plays the less everyone seems to like him. He'll probably get some minutes, but I don't want him to take time away from the young guys.l
I agree with BC. Walter is too much of a one dimensional player to get minutes. He can't hang with anybody on the boards, and he is a terrible defensive player. His game mostly consists of standing at the 3 point line and waiting for a kick-out. If he shows Rivers that thier is more to his game than that, he may get in the rotation.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It's great to see the Celtics loaded with so much talent</div> Are you serious? The Celts have about two really good above average players in Ricky Davis and Pierce. And the rest of their team are potiential average role players that haven't really shown any high-caliber play yet in the league IMO. Now if GP stops being a sissy it would really help your statement but I can't see this happening, sorry.
Need4Sheed, I don't think celtfan meant that the team is loaded with superstars. I'm guessing he meant it's loaded with so much more talent than we are used to. His point was that with what we had...Walter McCarty was mostly a starter last year, and with what we have now...will he get any time? I really don't see a need for you to jump down his throat on that one sentence. Why you even posted that here really boggles my mind. He did post it in the Celtics forum, and from a Celtic's fan perspective it makes total sense.
My bad, maybe I did misunderstand. In that case yes they do have more talent than before but they will still be border line playoffs like most of the teams in the East other than Det, Ind, and Heat.

With this draft class, Banks, Jiri, and Perkins the Celtics do have a lot of young guys with a lot of potential, more than just about any team in the Atlantic.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BC:</div><div class="quote_post">Celtics do have a lot of young guys with a lot of potential, more than just about any team in the Atlantic.</div> I really do know about this statement. They do have young potiental talent but I love to say that the 76ers have tons more young talent in this division, without a doubt. I'm really not saying this just because I live in Philly either, I look at their rosters online and I really do see this.
I'm sorry but.... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I love to say that the 76ers have tons more young talent in this division</div> Like who?
Dalembert, Green, Iguodala, Korver, and Salmons, in which all produce majorly this upcoming season by getting a great amount of minutes on the court.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Need4Sheed:</div><div class="quote_post">Dalembert, Green, Iguodala, Korver, and Salmons, in which all produce majorly this upcoming season by getting a great amount of minutes on the court.</div> Yeah Dalembert will be a great defensive presence in the league in the future. He even earned respect from Shaq when he defended him in that sixers win over the lakers in philly. Salmons has had hard times finding minutes with the team in the past, but when he was drafted he was prejected to be the next scottie pippen. In the games he scored over 10 points the team was well over .500. He also was one of the top free throw shooters on the team last season. He has won a ton of summer league mvp's. Korver is a great shooter. Was near the top in the league in three point field goal. Second on the sixers to aron mckie. Was in the three point shoot out and performed better than any body expected. He will be a force this year from the arc with JO backing him. Iggy is just iggy. A good defender, and athletic player that will be very good his rookie season. He just needs to improve his three point shot and jumper. He can gt rebounds for the team and give them a athletic finisher on the breaks. Green will probably be most improved player this year imo. He performed great last year when he was in the starting lineup will probably average around 14 points this season because he will get more minutes and is that good. All those guys will give the sixers a bright future. Though the Celtics dont have such a bad team either they have a ton of young talent. Players like Dalyonta West. Who will be a great shooter and a good scorer for them when he gets minutes as well as with allen who was a steal in the draft at the place he was picked. They also got marcus banks who will be a above average role player if not superstar in the future. He just needs to get on the same page with celtics GM Danny Ainges well not him, but his parents that are pissed ainges tried to trade banks. Both these teams have bright future either way though. They have a super star and some good young role players that will be good. I just seem to think the sixers will be a little better in part because they have less attitude prblems on there team.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Need4Sheed:</div><div class="quote_post">Dalembert, Green, Iguodala, Korver, and Salmons, in which all produce majorly this upcoming season by getting a great amount of minutes on the court.</div> Hmmm. The 76ers do have young up-and-coming talent, but I think Boston has more and will be a better team down the road. And, like yourself, I am a Boston fan really trying to be as objective as I can. Really... Dalembert has real talent, you should be excited to have him. However, Green, Korver, Salmons, and Iguodala, while all talented, are all 6' 5"ish swingmen. You can also add to that Kedrick Brown and McKie who will swing between the 2-3, and Glen Robinson and Corlis Williamson who play small forward, and there you see, are overloaded on the wing. Unless your team makes some trades, the youngens' won't get much playing time. You also still have AI, who I can see starting to break down physically and has an untradeble contract, and Glen Robinson's contract. Much of your future cap space will be held up by those two. You also still are paying for MacCulloch's contract, but we have Vin Baker's contract, so we won't go there......

Iggy can play the 2 or 3. Williamson will probably be in the power forward roatition not swing man spot. Glenn Robinson will not be a sixer next season hopefully the team is looking for any option to trade him so dont worry about that. Either Korver or Salmons may be traded though do to them being talented young guys who could bring talent at other spots on the court in a trade hopefully they are not traded though.
Both teams w/ equally young talent. But one thing I want to say is that as much as a SJU fan I am and as much as I'd liked to see him prosper in this league but I dont think it will happen is West. I think he will never learn to run the point and I think he is too small for SG.

That's less than 1 short of Jameer's average.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 44caliberThrila:</div><div class="quote_post"> Like who?</div> SAying the Sixers have no young talent? Clearly you know nothing about the Sixers. Sam Dalembert: Has great potenital and showed it last year when Derrick Coleman and Marc Jackson got hurt. He will become a top 3 Center in the league one day. Willie Green: A total steal in last years draft, again has the potential to become a all-star in this league. He gets to really prove this year when he starts and will probably get Most Improved Player. John Salmons: Another player that showed what hes goto when the Sixers number 1 options were gone. He as well may be a all-star, not to mention he led the Sixers in Free throw %. Kyle Korver: Very good 3 point shooter. With Jim O Birans teeaching he may become the next Peja as faar as we konw. Also the 1st rookie?(I think) to participate in the 3 pt Shoot out thing. Another draft steal IMO. Andre Igodaula: A great defensive player whos play is like Scottie Pippens. Very athletic and will provide much needed help on the defensive end. So we have 5 future great players. All of them besides Kyle Korver IMO have the potential to become all-stars.
Don't call me out and don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say that, so don't say that I did. "Like who?" is what I said, you even quoted it! What is the problem here? I wanted to know who he thought the 76ers best young talent was. It's pretty simple to figure that out if you read my post. Did you see me reply to him saying that the guys he listed aren't any good? No? Yeah that's what I thought... Too bad nothing will ever happen with their young talent because your boy OB. He is most likely the most overrated coaches in the league. He's nothing more than a fan with really good seats. He has ZERO focus on offense, refuses to play young players, and his success is all based on his assistant coach Dick Harter's gimmick defense. The young talent on the Sixers will never develop with OB as the coach. He WILL NOT play them unless he has no other option. Do you seriously think OB will "teach" Kyle Korver anything? You obviously know nothing about O'Brien's coaching career. AI and Glenn Robinson will be taking 60% of the shots in an offense that has no organization at all. So, while you may be right that the Sixers have good young talent, the only "talent" they will be showing off is their pine-riding abilities. Dalembert will see minutes because they have no other option, other than that, I don't see much opportunity for the rest to see much time. Unless, OB changes completly, which I doubt, these guys will never improve. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He will become a top 3 Center in the league one day.</div>You didn't mean that, I forgive you. BTW...Do you seriously think that Salmons, Green, and Ingodola have all-star potential? Drink this Kool-Aid.
Yeah but if I'm not mistakened didn't Jim O'Brien take the Celts back to being a go team after missing the playoffs for a few years? Ah, yes.
No offense, but if you think Jim O'Brien is primarily responsible for getting the C's into the playoffs, you know less about OB than you should. Paul Pierce, Antoine Walker and Dick Harter all played a bigger roles in the C's success than OB did. Harter's defense and PP and AW carrying more than 50% of the scoring load for the seasons, and not because of OB's fabulous offensive scheme.
