Now that Francis is gone, who do you think will be the player that will lead the Rockets to the next level? ( and WHY)

I say Jim Jackson. I remeber hearing Steve Francis say if he were to choose he would choose JJ cuz he's a vocal leader and a vet.

Definitely Jim Jackson because he has become a role player last season and mainly because he his a veteran. That was something that the Rockets needed last season, but as I look at the developing roster for this season, theres Sura, Ward, Howard- more than enough vets. Jim Jackson became a vocal leader last year and thats a key point in becoming the overall leader. Although Tmac is a much better athlete, he does not have the qualities for a leader and Yao, well he's still young in the NBA.

Veteran Leader: Jim Jackson (Gonna be the vocal leader)

Captain: Yao Ming (Hes gonna run the offense)

Co-Captain: Tracy McGrady (Hes gonna lead when Yao's on the bench and might be the go to guy when we need a big play, if Yao is unable)

I think T-mac will be the leader, but they're first option to go to will be Yao, but that doesnt neccesarily means that Yao is the leader/captain.

Yeah i agree JJ is the unquestioned leader..TMac doesnt strike me as a leader yet; Yao isnt vocal enough...JJ is a leader on AND off the court...

Jim Jackson: Good example on and off the court, and a very nice veteran player. Yao is good but he definitely not vocal enough.

Jim Jackson reminds me a lot of Mario Elie. Good defensive player, solid perimeter player, very vocal. Elie was perhaps a more emotional player.

hey we're talking bout leadership here, not talent on the offensive end of the court.

but yeah.. I'd agree.. JJ will lead, although i'd say that Howard will also have a good effect on our team's morale

Jackson will lead for sure, although I think Ward, the PG, will also be an emotional leader for our team. T-Mac will also take on a leadership role in getting his teammates aggravated. Talking about our veteran leadership, we are now a much more experienced team, both regular season and playoff-wise, so we will not lack any experience when it comes to us making a run in the playoffs.
