Yao, one man team, defeats NZ Yao backed up his words and had a remarkable night. He played 34.7 minutes out of the possible 40. He got 39 points on 15-20 shooting and got 13 rebounds. He nearly fouled out all of the opposing team's big men. THis time instead of passing on the triple/double team. He took it to the hole and got the call. This was just simply amazing to watch. Btw for future Chinese national teams http://personal.ie.cuhk.edu.hk/~xyzhang2/ is a good site to view live. Anyway they won only by 7 i could look up the scores, but it should be all over the news. I gotta go sleep its 3 in the morning. The guards were crap though. They couldn't handle full court pressure. CNT has to beat Italy and hope italy and nz loses all their other games to go into quarterfinals. Here is the scores. 69-62 China wins. Yea Yao made 15 field goals, the rest of his teammates made 9! I can't wait for the start of the NBA season! Keep in mind though, China was expected to win.

Yao absolutely needed this performance. He was already getting lots of criticism for the Spain game and his reputation would have been shot to hell had China lost this one too. As for the haters who said he couldn't carry his team etc, what now! :mrgreen:

One game he'll dominate, the next game he'll disappear. He needs to be more consistent and play with the same determination every game.

I don't think u guys understand what he did! He got 39 points in 34 minutes in international play. There was a point in the game where Yao had 5 less points than the whole NZ team! He only took 20 shots! Thats almost 2 points per attempt!
I think Yao is finally realizing how important he is to the teams he plays for. From the interviews and the game he just played he has basically declared that he will lead china. And we can only hope he does the same for houston.
It was a great game. Thats some nice stats too. The fact that he scored about half the team's points, that says something. Hopefully he'll finally see the light and when he comes back for the season, he'll play more consistent.
I watched the game and I'm so proud of him! Actually, playas of China seldom play a hassel game like this. Yao was so angry after being killed by Spain, so what he has to do is performing like a superstar. He is the spirit of our team.
That just shows that yao is a great player, although he is inconsistent. That is just something Yao needed to work on. Some nights, like the Spain game, he struggles terribly while other times its just like this New Zealand game. However, playing 34.7 minutes out of 40 minutes just shows that Yao has improved on his endurance. Perhaps he can show some of that in the NBA! Props Yo
Wow, I'm honestly surprised. lol. Even though hes not my fav... I hope he keeps it up... atleats until US Plays China.
