I've heard the Moss trade rumors for over a year now. The one last year, Moss to Miami for an aging Sam Madison, Adawale Ogunleye, Chris Chambers, and 2 first rounders. Sounds like a lot. I probably would've taken it last year. Now I hear this report on a deal with Baltimore, where the Vikings get the Ravens 1st round pick, and ahem...excuse me...Adalius Thomas? How can Moss' price go from 3 impact players and 2 first rounders, to a mid-first rounder, and a mediocre, nothing but blitz linebacker, who can't play the run, in just over a year? I know Moss had his troubles with injuries, and got confused with the clock in week 17. But, Moss is still the best weapon in the game, when used right. Plus he keeps so many defenses honest by always requiring a shutdown corner, and a shading safety. It opens up so many options in the short pass game, and running game. If the reason for trading Moss was to save the already stripped Vikings payroll, it wouldn't make sense. From what I've read, they will have to pay him 5 million this next year anyways, regardless if they trade him. Their is no way they will trade a PROVEN all-pro for a 1st rounder, and linebacker who would struggle in a 4-3 D. (I'll admit though, any linebacker is better than the Vkings trio) But it's just not enough for as big of an impact player that Moss is. The Vikings know that his value is much higher, and as long as Red McCombs is the owner, there is no way he'll allow a player to leave that puts asses in the cramped Metrodome seats. (Every game has been sold out since Moss' arrival in 1998.) Moss will be a Viking in 2005. Write it down.
Moss rumor you heard last year was BS, no way dolphins trade what amounts to 4 1sts and 2nds for moss
That trade you reported with the Dolphins was never offered....they did offer Ogunleye to the Vikings straight up, but the Viks said no....at this point, I dont think Moss is worth anything unless you are a coach that is already established as a winner with credibility....Andy Reid and Bill Belichick might be able to handle him, but not too many more....
Actually the Dolphins were offering what I said...here's a section of an article from the St. Paul Pioneer Press... ...Last year, a handful of teams inquired about Moss' availability, including the Miami Dolphins, who reportedly were offering defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, cornerback Sam Madison, receiver Chris Chambers and high draft picks... An NFC personnel executive, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said it's crazy to think about trading Moss. And if you don't believe me, heres the link to the article...http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/sports/football/10695548.htm?1c
I can show you a hundred newspaper articles that are full of speculation and hearsay when it comes to possible trades, they are based on selling papers, not accurately reporting what is going down....
Where did you read about the latest trade stuff? Personally, I think it is all a bunch of crap...the Vikings staff hasn't even met yet to discuss the end of the year reviews because ole Red has put it off (again). I do think that it is a possibility that he gets traded. Regardless of what the media says, he's not as bad of a distraction as people make him out to be, and he is a great asset to have on any team. I just think that with the emergence of Burleson (who I predicted during his rookie year would be a great receiver) that Moss is a little more expendable. If we could pick up a defense for him, it would be well worth the trade.
Man your information is very very old because I hate to break it to you but Adawale Ogunleye is a Bear traded for Marty Booker and a thrid round pick. I can't believe that no one else caught this!!
We all know Ogunleye was traded to the Bears....He mentions in the original post that the Ogunleye trade rumor was a year ago at this time....
last time i heard moss said he'd like to play for the cowboys...which is fine by me...and to trade..id give...umm a first and a 2nd round... its foolproof now...the 'boys have 2 first rounds....git em!!
When did you hear that? Moss wanted to be drafted by the Cowboys, but since they passed on him he has always had a hatred for them...
i heard it in a press conference on espn umm i think after the packers game in the wild card.... somebody asked him where he would be and he said he would love to be a cowboy... i know that...but hey, if he could come over that would be great.
