Accoring to this source, JKidd has indicated that MInnesota is an exceptable team, now I know we have Sam Cassell and he's great, also I realize that JKidd has a ton of money left on his contract, but a tandom of Kidd and KG is intriging nonetheless.

Whether Kidd, recently off his crutches, will be happy or is happy, is a matter Frank declined to address. Several sources said Kidd, while maintaining a wait-and-see approach, presented the team with a list of acceptable teams in the event of a trade. Minnesota, Dallas and the Lakers reportedly are on the list.

I vote no. Jason's game is built off of speed, and with his recent surgery, it's not known if he can return to form. Also, Cassell fits our team a whole hell-of-alot better since he can set (and hit) in the pick-and-roll situation. If Kidd would come off the bench, I would'nt be as adverse to it. But Cassell is out man and I would not trade that for almost any point right now.

Kidd is the ultimate playmaker. Getting Kidd could be huge for the Wolves, make em unstoppable. But, like Sabretooth said, he doesn't fit the present system like Cassell does, so there also is a good chance that he would be bad for the Wolves. All depends on how he gets worked into the system.

Cassell is old but he just hit his prime IMO making the All-Star team for the first time. Cassell is great, he is one of my favorite players and will be for a long time, I dont think that Kidd would mesh with the Wolves. Cassell is the Brain of the wolves while KG and Spree are pretty much everything else. Cassell fits perfect, he shouldnt be traded.

I agree, I think Cassell fits in with the Wolves' system a lot better than Kidd would. If Cassell had been healthy last year in the playoffs, I think they would have beat my Lakers.. also why take a gamble on a contract as big as Kidd's with injuries like his when you know that Cassell is a perfect match for your team?

Cassell is more of a scorer than Kidd is and shoots waaay better than Kidd does. Kidd shot, what, around 39% last year? And Cassell almost shot 50%. Cassell fits into the system better than Kidd would, as others have mentioned. Kidd would be a great addition on any team, but right now, I want to keep Cassell. He would be a better fit.

You guys are right, Cassell is the great fit, but Kidd's still the man.

If we had Kidd instead of Cassel we would take a major loss in scoring. Kidd is usually never an offensive prescence while Cassel had two 40 point game in the playoffs. Cassel is very vital to the Wolves succes at this point. Cassel can also do things like set up plays, besides being a scorer.
When I look at Jason Kidd, all he is really good for is passing and play-making. The way I look at it is, Cassel can do pretty much everythin g Kidd can do,While it may be on a lower level(putting aside some of Kidd's really good passes which I dont think occur often enough) While Kidd can't do everything Cassel can, particularly in scoring. I doubt Kidd has ever came close to 40 points( he may have- I dont know)

So, when I look at it like that I think that Cassel is much better for the team than Kidd. You know that the Wolves arent going to be trading any of the big 3, so that wont happen. BUT if somehow Kidd came to the Wolves with te big 3 intact(probably impossible) that would be good. Cassel would go to SG and JK would play PG. Then we would really be dominating.

Trade Wally for Kidd and have Hassel start SF, Spree SG, Cassel G and JK 2 G like Van Nexil. Maybe that doesn't work too well.

    Ahhhhh, Thanks but no Thanks.

Jason Kidd is still one of the top point guards in the league, but is getting up there in age, has a bad contract, and is just coming off knee surgery. He can't shoot worth crap, and we'd miss Cassell's mid-range game too much.

J-Kidd isn't the kind of PG that Flip Saunders wants. He needs his PG to be a good 3point shooter, which Kidd is not. I don't see the TWolves changing the system in any way. If Cassell never got injured in the playoffs, they would most likely be defending champs.

Yea Kidd is streaky on a good day. Although he' would make getting shots easier for everyone and he can drive the lane well. That is if he can stay healthy.

Kidd is way better than Sam. Sam shoots better, but Kidd is the better PG overall. But I agree that Sam's the better choice with the present system that they're running. But come on, Kidd's a talented and a smart PG. Don't you think he can adjust to the system?

Besides, it's not as if Sam's younger than Kidd by 5-10 years.

Way better? I dont know about that, But kidd does have more attributes, mainly on the defensive end. Kidd is one of the best help/Team defenders in the league at the point guard position. But his on ball man to man defensive is extremely overatted, but still alot better then Sam, so kidd clearly has the edge on the defensive end of the court.

Offensively, the way Kidd pushes the ball is by far in a class of his own. But when the offense slows down into a half-court style, he is actually involved in the offense alot less then people may believe. Kidd is not great at creating shots for other people in the half-court. He is not the type of point guard who will break his man down off the dribble in the halfcourt, nor does he have the half-court offensive game needed to attract the attention and draw defenders needed to create for others in a halfcourt. On the other hand Sam flourishes in the half-court and him in the halfcourt draws alot of attention, which creates easier opportunities for other people in the halfcourt. And of course on those night's where KG cant get his offensive game going Cassell can carry the load. And thats what allows Sammy to be one of the best 4th quarter players in the league.

Sammy has always been considered one of the leagues better rebounding PG's(except he didnt really work the boards much last year) but Jason Kidd is a better rebounding PG. So in most situation's you take Kidd over Sam but not this one in Minny. Cassell carry alot of the 4th quarter load for that team. And in the West finals the most noticable absence of Sam game due to him being injuried vs the Lakers, was his 4th quarter big shot after big shot ablity. The Wolves in the 4th quarter looked lost without someone their to really step up and make that big perimeter on the road in LA. I know Kidd has made big shots and can make big shots but I think when it comes to clutch shot making Sam is on a different level then Kidd. And that takes alot of pressure off KG.

Also I think Sprewell/Wally benefits alot from having Cassell on the court with them not only because he can create easy perimeter shots in the court but also because they always have an easy perimeter defender on them. Cassell's halfcourt game and ablity to post up in the mid-range area requires that he often be guarded by the opposing teams best perimeter defender. When the Wolves are playing a team like the Spurs or Kings etc, Cassell is often having to be guarded by the likes of Bruce Bowen or Doug Christie etc, that means that Sprewell or Wally isnt being guarded by an as good of a defender, which of course makes their job & perimeter looks alot easier.

The wolves have a sizable amount of shooters on their team, but they dont really have many players who can be the focal point of the offense with their own ablities to take over a game, thats where Cassell comes in because its mainly just him and KG and of course Sprewell when he has it going.

So I think Cassell is better to run the Wolves because they are a halfcourt team. And really have many players who can get up & down with Kidd in the open court. Their players are better suited for Cassell's style.

BTW- I want to make it clear that Iam not just saying this because Sammy is my boy, because I got plenty of love for Kidd. And I said the similar type of arguement in the debate on who would be better to run the Spurs offense becuase they are similar to the wolves in the fact they run alot of half-court pick & roll, and Parker is probably better to run that offense as well.

I think Kidds true effectiveness would shine on a team like Dallas or even Memphis especially with/if Swift comes back. A team that really needs the ball pushed and has the players to get up and down the court with kidd 24/7.

Jason Kidd IS the best PG in the NBA. What he did for the Nets should support that. He brings great defense and a will to win. The way he pushes the ball as said before is in a class of its own. There hasn't been a better passer since Magic Johnson. Only knock on him will be he can't shoot.

I know you aren't talking to me but I'd just like to say that Sam is a good fit in Minn. and I don't see why anyone would want to mess up something that is working out so good so far.

Sure it isn't broke, but they need to make improvements to their team to make it into a NBA Championship team. Their team isn't getting any younger, KG is 28, 29 by next playoffs, Cassell is ageing as showed in last years playoffs, Spree will be 35 next year, Kandi will turn 30 by next years playoffs, and their young kids. However, if they want to win a 'ship now, which im guessing they do, Kidd will be the guy to get them at the top. They'll also have a nice young care with Ebi, Hassell and Wally to go with the vets Kidd and KG. Though this really screws Sam Cassell.

That's something we will never know. The whole thing is if. IF he wouldn't have been injured we may have won the championship or we may not have. Many may say that the reason we lost is because we had no true PG with Cassell out, and I seem to believe that too. IF we had a good PG in Cassell's absense then we may have made it to the finals and won the championship. Eh, there I go with the Ifs again. But being defending champs would have been pretty nice.

    dumb debate

first of all, y r u even debating this, there is NO debate here! The wolves are not going to trade Sam Cassell, not for any player in the leuge! I dont care if its Kobe Bryant, they will not trade the player, that helped lead them to the western confernece finals, and where was Jasin Kidd in the eastern conference finals? oh ya! they wernt, they were at home playing golf. Jason Kidd chokes every year in the playoffs, and even besides that, Jason Kidd plays a fast break style offense, along w/ K-Mart and Richard Jefferson. The nets and Kidd are a fast break team, the T'Wolves are not. They slow it down and get shots for KG and work it around for Spre and Cassell, and others. Jason Kidd would be a flop in Minnesota. While he may be the bigger name, and even may be the better player, he does not fit in with Minnesota at all, especially when Kidd likes and has had, managment control w/ new jersey (i.e. the firing of byron scott) and he will not be the #1 priority or player in Minneosta, that role is taken by the leuge MVP, Kevin Garnett, there is no way Jason Kidd is coming to Minnesota, and if he does, McHale would have made the biggest mistake in NBA hisroty.
