According to what I know, there's not at all such an official response on Yao's comments. You guys are misled by your media. Most Chinese are agreed with Yao: Yao's doing his best, every match he's fighting against 2 or 3 big man, so our Fs and Gs ought to have fewer turnovers and make better shoots. Wang's another story. It is not only officials of the china basketball association, but also a majority of Chinese people that think he is lack of patriotism, which might be different from what you think. It is impossible that the Chinese government will arrest Wang, but since he is still a colonel in the army, it might be some punishment that I don't know. He's now disrespected in China, for as a soldier, he did not return to his country when he's needed.
Wang was a colonel?? That I didn't know... if that's the case then, Wang indeed acted unpatriotically.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trip:</div><div class="quote_post">Well, don't you come from China? Ask you parents. Wang never said he wanted to quit the team, he just maintained that he will train in the summer league and by himself in the US, rather than join the national team and train together. However, he never said that he won't join the team when the tournament comes around. The Chinese adminstration took it as a revolt and basically froze him out from there on. Wang was never arrested or anything because he was in the USA, but something tells me that something would be done to him if he was ever back in China. </div>I was born in Canada, but yea, sorry about the poor spelling in my other post, and tahnsk for the informaiton. and that push was harD(didnt see it till now) here's a gif for htose who didn't see it:

But when you're already in the military, you have to honor your affiliation in the army and go back to your country. Honor's a very big thing in the military, I'm not sure if that's the same thing in China, but it is in USA.
Disrespectful my foot. Some guy comes and shoves his body towards Yao after a dunk and how was he supposed to react? Not say anything? I'm glad Yao stood up for himself. His teammates should have rushed over there as well. He is standing up for himself and he is showing attitude and a hint of passion for the game. Of course he's gonna blast his teammates. He's the best player on that team, he's just pushing his teammates to excel thier performance. If it weren't for him, China wouldn't even BE this far, I don't get why they are complaing. It's very stupid and use-less. What does China want him to do? Humbly bow and say that it was mostly his fault and "we gave up in the end but next game we'll play better?" I'm glad he blasted his teammates, its good that he has some pizazzz to his attitude now. That NZ guy really asked for it on that play.

If its just a matter of him not being in the Olympics, it shouldn't matter at all. I don't think being the military obligates one to be more "patriotic" then just being a civilian.
<strike>any idiot can tell that this guy was asking for it. what the hell do u think he should do?! ask forgiveness ?! oh hell no! its a good thing Yao didnt go kung fu on his ass !!</strike> and i think it was good for Yao to let his frustrations out. its never good to keep things bottled up inside you...cuz one day it might explode... <font color="red">Pretty graphic description, but let's keep this kind of comments on the DL next time... -Trip</font>

He offered to train in the US in the summer leagues while the Chinese team trained back in China. Then, they would meet up somewhere and then play in the World Championships together. I hardly see that as unpatriotic, because it's of the same class as the country offering a student an overseas scholarship, with the promise of that student returning to the country after his education to provide for it. Wang promised to train in the US, and wanted to use the skills gained from training there to help China do better in the World Championships.
I see what you're saying. It's indeed a complicated matter. I just think that when you're in the army, your country owns you and whenever they call you to go back there for whatever reason, you're supposed to listen to them. For example, if a marine is on vacation and all the sudden the government needs him for whatever situation that may be at hand, it is high suggested that you cut your vacation short and go back. However, I'm not gonna lose hair over this matter. Not especially it's about a sub-par player such as Wang . Anyways Trip, did you ever get that video downloaded?
wow if i was yao after that guy had bumped into me like that, and being 7'6 ,i would definately swing some blows at him...
