When the original divisional plans came out, I was pretty happy to avoid the Spurs and the Mavericks, and get out of a division with the Lakers and the Kings. Now, looking at last year's standings and offseason moves, and without wanting to sound poessimistic, does anyone give us much chance of finishing off the bottom of the Northwest?

Minnesota and Denver will be fighting for the divisional crown it seems, while I get the feeling Portland and Utah both have too much up front. Unless we get a great season from Ray and/or Rashard, and Collison's rookie season goes better than expected, we may have trouble keeping pace in that division.

Bottom line, if we want to make the playoffs, we may have to rely on it being a very strong division and all five teams making it (which is entirely possible).

The funny thing about the Sonics in recent years is that they've beaten good teams regularly and lost to bad ones just as regularly. I expect about the same record as last year.

    yeah no doubt.

as far as talent goes the sonics do sort of overachieve.. I am really hoping that we have some sort of trade before the season starts. If not, I'm afraid that we're in for the same ol same ol.. Though it would be interesting to see how our team would do with a full season without any injuries..

I expect the Sonics to finish in either the last or second to last position in the division. That doesn't entirely rule them out for the post season considering that this division is the second best in the league behind the Southwest division. I don't think that we are in a position where we can expect to make the postseason. If we are able to do so then it was a great year.
