    I'm not sure he will yet, because it might tip future suggestions before the deadline. Sadly, there will be people who will take whatever he/we might comment on and try to tweak it to get an advantage.

    While we want this to be simplistic and fun, we want it to have some legitimacy to the process, so that hopefully it can be replicated in the future.

    I'm pretty sure ranter and I will get together and put together some form of write up and comment on some of the proposed trades after the winner is announced.

    Ah, good thinking Hagrid. Didn't even cross my mind. Just wanted to see what people thought of the various trades already, but I suppose I'll have to wait.

    And not to dampen your Celtic Pride, but after perusing the various "opportunities" to trade GP, it ain't looking too good right now. Good luck with that, not sure you'll get close to anything useful in return. Because, as I see it, here are the options:

    1)Trade him and Fox to a team that wants to dump cap. In which case you get a high salary player with a long contract that's not THAT good of a player (or else the other team wouldn't trade him), so you get stuck with him. And not sure that's a position the Celts want to be in.
    2)Trade him for a young PG you think has potential, because I don't think any team would trade a PG for Payton that they know can play. So you're stuck with a guessing game. And not sure that's even that much better than Banks.
    3)Don't trade him and take the cap relief next season. This may be the best option, but it doesn't help the Cs. Still no PG.

    Things aren't looking too bright. I'll keep trying to help ( [​IMG] ).

    So without further ado, here's using option #1:

    Boston trades:
    PG Gary Payton (14.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 5.5 apg in 34.5 minutes)
    SF Rick Fox (4.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.6 apg in 22.3 minutes)
    C Michael Stewart (0.5 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 0.0 apg in 5.9 minutes)
    Toronto trades:
    SG Jalen Rose (15.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 5.0 apg in 66 games)

    Why Toronto does this: As much as they like Jalen Rose, they don't like him nearly as much as they hate his $14.5 million contract. This gives them the perfect chance to dump him, leaving them approximately $5-7 million under the cap next year.

    Why Boston does this: None of the players traded add much to their team, and they are able to pick up a former All-Star, who can play the point, and actually might fit in well in the tough/big/athletic style that Ainge and Rivers seem to be going in.

    Not sure this would work, but it's an attempt.

    First off, Toronto wouldn't be doing it for Mike Stewart. The idea is that his contract ends after this year, so it helps them dump cap. Not sure Payton would even play for Toronto, only Rick Fox would provide marginal help to the team. But that's not why they do the trade. They dump Jalen's contract.

    And I wasn't referring to Rose actually being an All-Star, but rather being an All-Star caliber player. After all, the selections for the All-Star game are always subjective and met with criticism. I recall Rose being snubbed numerous times.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but Gary said he'll retire before coming here because he don't want to move his family anymore. So here is my question, what will happen if he does retire? Do the Celts get those players back or what, how does this work?

    I'm not 100% but, I think his contract is taken off the cap, and they hold his right until the end of this season if he wants to come back. I think they would still have his rights if he wanted to come back this year.
